Soon it was time for their next class. The girls parted ways to get back to their seats.

Shriya took her seat and the one beside her was still empty. She took out the history books from her bag.

While she was rummaging through her text to find out where they had stopped last time, the rightful owner of the seat beside her came back.

Shriya had usually ignored him but since he was sick for so long she thought of asking about her neighbour's health.

"I heard you were sick. Are you alright now." She looked at him when she spoke.

But Rishi did not hear her. His attention was caught by the girl sitting two benches ahead to his right.

Shriya followed his gaze and saw that he was looking at Disha. "You are looking at Disha?"

This time Rishi turned his attention to her as if silently telling her to go on.
"She is the new student transferred from the orphanage you came from." Shriya told him.

"Did she say that to you?" He asked her and Shriya nodded his head.

"Did she say why she got transferred?" He asked her again.

"Their orphanage is going to be demolished and all the children are shifted to different ones." She told him.

Shriya observed how Rishi's face lost colour. 'He must have been heartbroken,' she thought.

Soon the teacher came in. The class went on as usual. But Rishi wasn't paying attention in the class. He looked disturbed.

Shriya felt bad for him. His character was set to be righteous and it was only natural for him to feel others pain.

He had been caught and scolded by the teacher for the upteenth time before finally being thrown out of the class.

Once the class ended the teacher told him this was his last warning and to pay attention in class in the future.

He came back inside and sat back down, lying face first on his table.

Chithra nudged me to come along since it was interval.

While they walked along the corridors, Shriya noticed a small crowd in a classroom.

Chithra turned to look at what had made Shriya curious.
"That's the ring throwing competition held by grade eight students." She enlightened her.

"The funny thing is that they give the winners cheer up candy." Chithra said chuckling at some memory.

Shriya looked at her curiously, "you didn't know." Chithra asked her, to which she shook her head negatively.

"Then let's take a look." Saying that she pulled in Shriya with her.
