I went to my amulet that was still on the ground and glowing slightly.
I picked it up and inspected it. It had no scratch, no damage or anything else. It was still like new.
Good, so it's sturdy. It has to be, because if it wasn't, it would have been pretty much useless.
The child stopped crying now, it became quiet and peaceful again.
I remembered Bodul's Amulet. What if I took his as well? Then I would have two of them and could defend myself even better from the Guardians. When the child would be old enough I could give her one of the amulets, so we wouldn't have to risk our lives going into one of those caves again.
I went back to his lifeless body and looked at his amulet. I picked it up and it just dissolved in my hand. Looks like only the true owner of the amulet was really allowed to use it...fair enough.
While I was wondering about the amulets, I noticed that Bodul's body was slowly dissolving as well.
After a few seconds, there was nothing left of him, as if he had never existed.
I just shook my head and turned around.
I looked ahead and mustered all my courage. I must bring the child to the top, I simply have no choice. We are already too far up, there is no going back.
