Something had been on Steve's mind for a while. Eddie was upset with him, for god knows what reason, and had kept him locked out of the bathroom for nearly an hour now. No matter how hard he tried, Steve couldn't think why his boyfriend would be upset. He hadn't said anything that he deemed unreasonable or offensive. He sighed and rubbed his face as a way to calm him down.
It couldn't mean that much could it? Otherwise Eddie would've actually come to him and said something. He's learnt over the relationship, that if something's wrong, Eddie will not let it up. Which means Steve can never stay mad when Eddie's around, giving him all the comfort he needs. But now Steve can't return that comfort since Eddie's still in the bathroom, not wanting to talk to him.
He got up and knocked on the door again, waiting for an answer before he spoke. "Eddie? Are you ok?" No response. In fact, there was no nothing. No noise at all, like Eddie wasn't actually in there anymore. So Steve knocked again, and still no answer. "Eddie come on let me in, this isn't funny anymore" Steve said, panic rising and becoming evident as he spoke.
After the third time of knocking with no answer, he started rattling the door handle trying to see if he could open it. When it wouldn't budge, he started to ram into it, hoping to break the lock. He was so focused on trying to get open the door that he didn't hear the desperate shouts of terror that came from the other side.
When the door finally clattered open, Steve was opened to the sight of an incredibly unusual Eddie. He was hugging his knees to his chest and shaking. Steve bent down and now that he was closer, he could hear Eddie's shaky and irregular breathing. As he went to brush Eddie's hair out of his face, the raven flinched and moved away from Steve's hand.
"Baby..."
"Don't" Eddie mumbled, hiccuping at the end. "What?" Steve voice was barely above a whisper, trying to match Eddie's levels of noise to comfort him. "Don't sweet talk me right now" Eddie looked at Steve, who could clearly see what he looked like. His hair was messy and face puffy, with tears staining his cheeks.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you and it was too late when I had opened the door" Steve tried to read Eddie's emotions, but it was no use. He couldn't tell wether fear or sadness was fronting, but he knew that all he himself felt was guilt. Whatever he had done, had caused Eddie a panic attack of some sort. The raven still wasn't breathing regularly and couldn't focus on one part of Steve's face.
"Please Eddie I'm sorry..."
This time Eddie practically threw himself at Steve, hanging onto him. "Hey hey it's ok" Eddie hid his face into Steve's chest, trying to breathe in as much of his scent as possible. Steve rubbed his back as he waited for Eddie to calm, also rubbing circles into the top of his hand.
"Don't you ever fucking do that again" Eddie said, looking at Steve in the eye, who just nodded in response. He wouldn't ask for a reason, not if Eddie didn't want to give one. "Why were you in here anyway? You couldn't have been taking a shit right?" While Eddie sniggered and hit him in the arm, his expression remained stern.
"I was just... Thinking" "Of?" "Nothing that should concern you big boy" "And why not?" "Because I said so. That should be reason enough" "Fuck me Ed's you sound like my father" "Yeah well don't go screaming that in bed ok?"
Steve felt his cheeks flush as Eddie laughed at his embarassement. "But seriously, I was just thinking of the past Harrington, you won't want to hear it" "Try me" "Oi. That's my line" It was Steve's turn to chuckle and Eddie again hit him on the arm.
"It's just about past me silly" "What do you mean?" "How past me never thought I'd be able to reach where I am right now" "What with me?" Steve said jokingly, hoping Eddie noticed his humorous tone as well. He knew that he had when Eddie smiled.
"Yeah you wish Harrington. I mean alive"
That made Steve pause. Was Eddie... Saying that he thought he wouldn't be alive right now? Unfortunately, Eddie read the confusion on his face and looked away. "Yes Harrington I was suicidal alright. Must've been nice to never know what that felt like" Steve followed the ravens gaze and lifted his forehead to his own.
"Your still perfect Ed's. Nothing could make me say that you aren't" He cupped Eddie's face and wiped away the stray tears that ran down his face. "Don't cry Ed's. I'm proud of you that your still here. And I know that probably doesn't mean anything to you. But you mean everything to me, so I want you to know. I'm so fucking proud of you for absolutely everything and anything that you do, every. Single. Fucking. Day. Your absolutely amazing Ed's. I'll hold that to you till the day we part"
"Your fucking ridiculous Harrington"
"I know"
They smiled at each other before Steve kissed Eddie's cheek. "Now you want to join me for a movie or am I going to have to occupy the couch by myself?" Steve got up and held his hand out to Eddie, who took it and smiled once more. Then he pushed Steve back. "Not if I get there first!!!" He yells, darting out of the room. Steve smiled to himself as he ran after Eddie. When he caught him, he started to tickle the raven, who burst into laughter and tried to squirm away.
"Stevie let me go!" He whined, still trying to squirm. "Nuh uh. You need to pay" "For what?!" Eddie gasped. Steve turned Eddie around and pulled him close.
"For making me such a lovesick idiot who fell head over heels for you"
