I'm pulling out of the parking lot as my phone buzzes in the cup holder. Although it was bad to hold a phone while driving it was one rule that I couldn't really follow.

"Hello Suede Brooks speaking," I answer as I hear a snicker on the other line,"hey Cat."

"Why do you answer so sophisticated," she laughs a bit more making me roll my eyes.

"What's up," I ask as I turn my blinker on indicating my right hand turn into the food plaza.

"I'm just saying that I'm here waiting. So hurry your ass up," she ends the phone before I could even answer. It's not like it mattered because I was getting out anyway. As I walk up to the glass front doors of the local coffee shop I take a deep breath.

Why was I so nervous? This was my best friend from high school who I was meeting up with. She practically knew my bra size and the way I thought, that's how close we were.

Wiping my sweaty palms across my black jeans I enter into the chatter filled Cafe. I find my seat for two. The other was already occupied.

Cat was now blonde, last year she was brunette and the year before her natural colour strawberry blonde. She also lost a bit of weight, I could tell it the way her cheekbones were more prominent, it's not that she was ever heavy she was always a petite girl.

"Hey you," she smiles than gets up to welcome me in a friendly embrace. We hold eachother for just a little longer and then release to sit down. We were both eager to here about each others lives in the past year.

Cat now lived in Australia. Her family moved during senior year of high school. Every year her family comes and pays a visit with their relatives over the Christmas holidays. Cat and I always found enough time to book a reservation at my local coffee shop to sit and chat.

"So how's Australia?" I ask right before a waitress comes over to take our order of drinks.

"Well it's really good. You remember Payton right? Well him and I both saved up enough money to buy a beach side bungalow. It's amazing and beautiful. Sometime next year when it's ours you should fly down. I know you will enjoy it," she winks before taking a sip of her sparkling water.

Cat never went to university or college when she graduated from high school in Australia. She claimed that she was missing too much in life. Being brought up by an academic family I begged her to find a school she was interested in ad attend it explaining how there would me so many more job opportunities for her. She never listened. Instead she now works at a surf shack run by her and her fiancé, Payton.

"That's great. Right after I'm finished with this semester maybe during the summer I'll come down," I smile as my eyes flicker across the menu looking for something mouth watering to eat.

"So how are you doing?" She asks.

"Ah well school good. Grades are well, if I keep my average as it is right now I can apply for the job I've been wanting for forever," then I point a finger in her direction," and that's why I answer so sophisticated so I don't lose this opportunity."

She giggles, then takes a moment for herself to calm down before she can speak again.

"Anything else interesting other then school. I didn't fly around the world so we can talk about grades and school. Anything like guys that you've been seeing," she raises an eyebrow then smirks devilishly.

"Well I started talking to this boy named Derek. He was nice he also was in one of my classes he took me out for lunch once and that was really it," I knew exactly where this conversation was heading, and I wanted to change the subject as soon as possible.
