CHAPTER FOUR
KHAEL

———

Khael slept well and woke up early. He went into his bathroom and splashed himself in the face with water.

His eyes focused - on examining his surroundings. The flooring of the bathroom was marble and the sink was black with golden edges. The mirror in front of him reflected the whole room. There was a pleasant smell that wafted, relaxing him.

"Khael! Breakfast is ready!" Faith called from outside his room.

"Coming!"

He made his way downstairs to the dining room. Seth and Caleb had already taken their seat and started eating. Faith was nowhere to be found - probably in the kitchen.

Khael sat down next to Caleb, his breakfast in front of him. Pancakes. He poured a great amount of syrup before eating it, earning him disgusted looks from his friends.

"I'll never get over how much syrup you eat," Caleb stated in dismay.

"I'll have to tell the help not to cook pancakes for breakfast anymore." Seth continued eating while scrolling through his phone.

"That's rude." He huffed. "And Faith got us a help?" Khael questioned. He didn't think much about it after Faith said not to.

"I know what you're thinking but I know her from my good friend." Faith walked in holding food in one hand and a glass of water in the other.

Walking behind her was a girl their age. She looked pretty, he thought. Her hair was tied into a ponytail. She wore a blue, grey, and black plaid sweater vest with a white shirt inside, white straight pants, and white shoes.

"This is Ash." Faith introduced her.

"Hey! I'm Seth."

"Caleb."

"Khael."

"I hope we get along." She waved and gave a little nod before walking away from them.

"She'll be working here for the rest of your stay but if you feel her presence is a threat or if she makes you uncomfortable, I'll fire her and hire someone else."

With their planned mini-event, they all gathered by the pool, dragging Faith to join in

With their planned mini-event, they all gathered by the pool, dragging Faith to join in. Ash was standing by the poolside, not wanting to get any closer than she already is.

"Welcome friends and staff," Seth imitated a posh, English accent - trying to sound elegant despite the circumstance.

"We will start the pool party by blasting music and playing around the little water park Faith got us, and after, we will eat and—" Seth was interrupted. Khael had pushed him in, impatient with the actual thing.

Caleb and Khael jumped right in after. Reaching the surface, they turned to Faith.

"Join us!" Caleb shouted, getting up from the edge of the pool. She was wearing work clothes and heels. Backing up, she placed her phone and wristwatch on the pool chair, knowing Caleb would actually throw her in the pool.

"Do not pull me in there or I swear—" It was too late. Caleb reached for her waist and carried her, jumping in together.

Faith glared as she resurfaced and made her way to the stairs, her face angry and her clothes drenched.

Ash came around to help her. Covering her with a towel and held her stuff to avoid them getting wet and lost.

"Thanks, Ash."

"No problem." Ash led Faith inside to change. "I'll prepare your snacks after." She told them.

"Okay!" Seth went back to swimming.

Khael watched them as their figures disappeared, entering the house. He turned and continued to swim around.

"Come on, let's play volleyball!"

"Nah, let's race." Caleb had a head start.

"No fair, Caleb!" Seth raced after him.

The sky was getting darker.

They had been in the pool for half a day. They avoided sunburns from the constant reminder of re-applying sunscreen from Faith. Drenched and tired, they all agreed to have a bath before meeting for dinner

He stripped his clothes and entered the shower. The warm and clean water was refreshing on his skin. He opted for his conditioner and soap - softly rubbing it with his sensitive skin.

And after a few minutes, he got out of the shower.

He walked in - a towel below his waist - and saw Ash, holding her belongings in her hands. He didn't hear the door open.

Calling the red of her face a blush would be underestimating how heated her face was. Her eyes shifted and turned around.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't know anyone was here. Faith didn't tell me where my room was and so I assumed... I'll just leave." She opened the door and got out of there in a hurry.

"Wait!" Khael called out. She obviously didn't stop. What was he gonna say anyways? Maybe he just wanted to welcome her? Talk to her?

She was staying over anyways, they could talk anytime.
