CHAPTER TWELVE
ASH

———

If Khael had asked her if it was her first kiss, she would've lied to sound more experienced but it was impossible to hide it from him. Not when he was kissing her with passion. The butterflies in her stomach flew around, inching to be released and gather around him and pepper his face with kisses.

In the middle of the heated and passionate session, a child shouted back to his parents, "Mom, someone's kissing in here." The child's expression was one of teasing, thinking his mom would scold them for doing so. They both flinched as the mom quickly pulled her son away and mumbled a low 'sorry' and repeatedly told her son not to wander around. Earning a disappointed look from the kid.

When they were out of their sight, Ash shifted her body away from her position, her mind replaying the moment. Her body across his lap, his soft lips upon hers, and the unspoken question of whether she was okay with it. And she was.

It would've been difficult to agree with him if their relationship status were strangers with Faith as her employee. But it wasn't. Khael had spoken through his actions that he treated her just the same as Seth and Caleb - with some exceptions.

The hand-holding and now this, Ash was terrified she was overthinking that what he was doing for her, was just all under the pretense of being friends. But friends don't hold their friends' hands with sweetness, friends don't get possessive of you like that, and lastly, friends don't kiss their friends like that. So what were they really?

Ash continued her spiraling and self-loathing silently beside Khael, who she hadn't noticed to be flustered. She touched her lips, feeling a tingling sensation from where Khael's lips were on. She didn't know what was worse, that she wanted Khael to hold her just like he did earlier or that she wanted to continue their kiss.

Something about her expression must've told Khael something because he reached out to hold the hand that examined her lips and reached up to hold her face, his eyes stared at her lips with need while his thumb stroked her lips. "Want to do it again?" Without hesitation, Ash leaned in expecting Khael to smash his lips onto hers. But he had gently kissed her, sweeter than he did earlier.

Feeling woozy and content, a moan came out of her mouth, and her efforts of holding it came loose. Taking her moan as encouragement, Khael kissed her deeper. His hand was on her nape, slowly raking his fingers through her hair, pulling her closer, earning another moan that was muffled in the kiss.

They parted, the kiss ending much to Ash's dismay. Coming in contact with Khael's eyes, Ash wanted to curl up in her bed, not wanting to face her idol's eyes after they had just done that.

"I need to tell you something," Khael spoke up, his breathing subtly trembling. He moved his hands to hold Ash's and took a deep breath. "I fancy you very much." Ash could feel her hopes flying through the charts, the little doubt she had that Khael didn't like her disappeared until he continued. "But I'm not ready to have any real relationship. The last one kinda left a scar in me."

Ash gave him a small smile, hoping he couldn't see how it affected her. But nonetheless, she didn't expect much when they started talking, this was already enough for her. Ash replied with understanding, knowing better than to ask more questions about it.

They continued to talk about simple stuff. The topic eased any tension Khael had created. As the sun had finally sunk, its bright and gentle colors disappeared with it, bringing out the shine of the moon. They both agreed it was time to head home.

"Where will I drop you?" He asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Aren't you having a day off?"

"We can go to the house. The day is over anyways, and so is my day off." Khael nodded, bringing their hands to a close, and walked towards the car in comfortable silence.

They were in time for dinner. Entering the dining room, Seth approached her and eagerly asked her about the man. He explained that they hadn't left the crime scene and came back later to search for her.

"Oh, he was just an old classmate." She gave him a smile. "I won't be meeting him anymore anyways, so don't worry."

Seth responded by giving her a big hug, one that squeezed her chest and stomach. Ash glanced at Khael with pleading eyes. He laughed and finally pulled Seth away from her and took their seats beside each other. Faith was nowhere to be seen. Seth informed me that she was just resting in her room.

Their dinner consisted of pizza and fizzy drinks, clearly, something Faith informed her to avoid letting them eat but she couldn't care. Not after she had the time of her life only to be broken down by the same person, but then again, who was she to force him to date her?

After dinner and washing up, Ash quickly heads back to her room. The tiring day had finally reflected on her muscles. She jumped on her bed as she reached her room, tossing aside her shoes and bag. A sigh escaped her mouth, her eyelids slowly closing, sleep soon coming over her.

Opening her eyes, she was covered in smoke. Her surroundings soon changed to the gate of the house. She glanced around. The sun's rays were bright but she didn't feel any heat. The trees were swaying but she didn't feel the air. Something was wrong.

"There she is!" A shout coming from the front caught her off guard. When she turned, there was a group of females. Their shirts are all with the logo of O4U. They started pulling her arms and hair, pushing her to the ground. The impact would surely leave a bruise.

"How dare you go near Khael," A shout that repeated from the group of women had stung Ash. This shouldn't be real. A dream, she thought. She glances up at the gate. Khael, Seth, and Caleb are all standing, looming over her. Their eyes were anything but friendly. Although a crack in Khael's expression showed pity and left as fast as it showed.

"Do you really like her Khael?" The females now ignore her and run up to the gate, waiting for any response. She knew what he was going to say but with the expression he was showing she wasn't so sure anymore.

"No," His harsh words were the music to the women, squealing in joy, making advances the boys just ignored, still staring at her.

If this was a dream, she wanted out. If this was a dream, she wished it wouldn't turn out like this. If this was a dream, his harsh words shouldn't have hurt more than they should. If this was a dream, tears shouldn't be pouring out of her eyes.
