Naruto had to stay in a hospital for a while. Y/n wanted to stay there with him, but they didn't let her. She saw Mikoto with Itachi and little Sasuke. She hoped one day Sasuke and Naruto become great friends.

She visited the hospital every day, getting there early in the morning, leaving late at night. Kakashi disappeared since that day. She just wanted a hug from him.

Around a month passed and they allowed y/n to take Naruto to her home. She remade her entire room to look like Minato and Kushina's. She kept one of Minato's special kunai's in the room as well. It gave her some kind of comfort, she was only regretting not apologizing to him.

It was late and Naruto was sound asleep. Y/n was laying on the balcony, trying to clear her head. She heard a very subtle thud in her room and she rushed in as fast as she could. Over the crib stood a boy she knew very well.

It was Kakashi. He was looking at Naruto with some kind of sadness in his eyes.

"He looks so much like Minato..." he whispered.

A small tear escaped her eye.

"Yeah, he does." she whispered as she walked toward Kakashi.

Putting her hands on his shoulder and leaning on him she started humming her brother's tune. He followed not long after. It was soothing, she missed this comfort she received from him.

"You staying the night?" she asked.

They were sitting on the balcony, leaning on each other. They were watching the stars, remembering where they started, what happened not long ago. They were remembering everyone they lost along the trail of their lives.

"Sure..." he whispered.

She turned to face him. He stayed at the same place, leaning on his right hand. She sat on her knees and leaned toward him.

"What do we do now?" she said looking him deep into his eye.

Her eyes still had that usual sparkle. He just looked at her and placed his forehead on hers. Her eyes widened and she blushed. She didn't want to move, she just looked down. He closed his eyes, trying to even out his breathing, trying to stay cool.

"Why don't we figure it out along the way?"

"Happy second birthday, Naruto!" Kakashi greeted as he entered with a big cake.

"Kakashi!" the little boy yelled in excitement.

"Thanks for the cake, come inside." y/n let him in.

Kakashi has been over every so often and Naruto loved him. They often played together.

"Kakashi! Kakashi! Pick me up!" Naruto squealed putting his arms in the air.

"We have to eat first, we'll play later. Deal?" he responded to the hyperactive boy.

"Okay." he pouted and went to the kitchen.

Setting the table they ate together. Naruto of course made a mess, but they laughed it off. The boy changed both y/n's and Kakashi's life drastically. He cheered them up when they couldn't, he was so energetic, hopeful, and happy. It made them forget how cruel life can be.

After they ate Naruto was fighting sleep so Kakashi took him to his room. While he was trying to get Naruto to sleep, y/n cleaned. Humming the low tune she got to scrubbing Naruto's mess.

"Need help with the dishes?" Kakashi approached.

"Yeah, I'll wash them you dry." she said handing him a towel.

"So he's asleep?" she started the conversation.

"Yup. He practically passes out on that low tune you taught me."

"That's probably why my brother sang it to me. My parents told me I hated nap time." she chuckled.

"Oh yeah, did you find out what happened with your brother?"

"Yeah... He died long before my parents left..." she stopped scrubbing and just stared at her hands.

"It's okay though, I don't need to know him that well to love him. I'm sure he was a noble man." she smiled.

"I- I'm sorry for asking-"

"It's funny, you get so awkward when we talk about dead people. I made peace with it. I'm serious, it's okay." she smiled at him.

She went to grab next thing to wash but she was too distracted and accidentally cut her hand on a knife.

"Shit." she cursed under her breath.

"We need to wrap that." Kakashi said as he went to take the first aid kit.

"I know medical ninjutsu, there is no need for you-" she started.

"Shut up." he grabbed her arm and dragged her to the couch.

She obligated, it was cute in a way. He carefully cleaned the wound and wrapped it up. He held her hand for a few moments before resting his head on it. She sat down on the floor with him, resting his head against his. It's now or never.

"Kakashi, can I speak honestly with you?" she whispered.

She just felt him nod slowly.

"I... I've liked you since we were kids, Kakashi..."

His head shot up taking her by surprise. His eye was open wide staring into hers.

"Could you repeat that?" he said leaning towards her.

She bushed and put her hands over her face. Maybe it was the wrong timing. She got up and started to leave but Kakashi stopped her.

"Can you please repeat that?" he was staring at the floor.

"I've liked you since we were kids..." she whispered still having one hand over her mouth.

Kakashi spun her around quickly and kissed her. Her eyes were wide open with shock, but she leaned into it a moment later. When he pulled away, his mask was off, his eye had her sparkles.

"I like you too..."
