• Eight Hours

It was an awful day.

Utahime had to lay down on a clinic bed. A curse spirit was triggered in the middle of a town. It was an emergency. She ran out when an order was given. This type of spirit latches on to other people. It was really tricky because there was a crowd. She was sent to not let it attach to any civilian while authorities evacuated the area.

The previous person that it latched got really violent. He swung his bag at the people around him. At first, they thought it was just some crazy person. But, the man suddenly bled from his eyes and ears. That alerted the people around.

When she arrived, an impending doom washed over her as she saw the curse heading towards a small child that tripped.

The child looked really helpless. Her mission was to not let any bystander get affected, so she dove in front of the child and got stuck with an annoying curse spirit.

She felt dizzy and pain shot from her shoulder to the tip of her toes. The important thing was no innocent person was accidentally involved.

Unaware of how many hours she slept, her eyes were greeted by Miwa and Kamo.

"Iori-sensei!" Miwa yelled.

"Are you in the right state of mind now, Iori-sensei? I was left with the task of imparting the details of what happened to you." Kamo stood up from his chair and walked over closer.

"Kamo-kun, please let her breathe for a moment. It must have felt very heavy." Miwa spoke of her concerns. Suddenly welcoming the teacher with overwhelming information didn't sit well with her.

"Alright."

Utahime blinked and blinked. Soon, her breathing got more steady.

"I'm sorry for worrying you. What happened?"

Kamo told her that after her involvement, the curse spirit had a hard time to actually attach to her. The effects of the incident wasn't as severe as it did to the man who got associated with it earlier. A group of sorcerers quickly arrived and handled the situation. Their doctor said that Utahime will feel sore shoulders and upper back. Her skin in those parts were noticeably red. Additionally, dizziness at random may also happen. There's also some disturbance in her energy. It was appropriate for her to take a rest.

"You were asleep for eight hours, Iori-sensei."

After thanking Kamo for his explanation, he wished her well and went out.

"Iori-sensei, they brought you here while your eyes were tightly closed... and, and you were trembling." Miwa looked like she was about to cry.

Utahime tapped her hand as a sign that she's okay. She still feels a little numb. It was as if her strength were stolen away. Her mood is also down, and she doesn't really have any more energy.

It was just this really dampening feeling.

The door suddenly opened, and Mei Mei burst in.

"Utahime, how are you?"

"Mei-san? I heard you were out?"

Miwa bowed a little to greet their new company. Mei Mei smiled and waved at her.

"I just got back. Your little boyfie paid me to take you home."

"Paid?"

"I would've still helped you, but he offered first."

"Boyfriend?" Miwa asked.

"Ah, yes," Utahime replied. "Why don't you go and rest, Miwa. You look tired."
