content warnings: drug use

Rowan Henderson walked through the dark funeral home alone. The room was empty of people, holding a black casket in the center of the room. Rowan hesitantly crept to the casket, legs shaking in fear. Her head darted around the room looking for any sign of life. She saw nothing but black flowers hanging on the wall, with black chairs lined up in rows of three.

Her shaky hand reached up to graze the casket, her breath hitching at the coolness of it. She opened the casket, sighing in relief when no one was in there. She turned around only to be met with the sight of Ellis. She was covered in dried blood, her eyes all white, not the beautiful color they once were. She was wearing the same clothes from the night she died.

"E-Ellis?" Rowan spoke, her voice trembling from fear.

"Look what you did to me. You did this to me, Rowan." Ellis's voice was harsh, not the sweet rasp it once held. Rowan took a step forward.

"I'm so sorry. Ellis, I never meant for you to get hurt."

Ellis took a step forward, "You killed me. You're the reason I'm dead." Her voice was deeper, almost growling.

"I'm so sorry." She was now crying, her words breaking as she spoke. Ellis took threatening steps toward her. Rowan began stepping back in fear.

Rowan's back hit the casket as Ellis blocked her from running away. "Please. I'm so sorry." Rowan spoke in a whisper.

Ellis raised her hands, pushing Rowan into the opened casket. Rowan fell back with a scream.

Rowan woke with a jump, shaking Max who was lying awake, staring at the ceiling. Max looked down at the movement. The younger girl looked exhausted, eyes covered in dark circles and concern. "How long have you been having nightmares?" Max asked.

Rowan groaned as she stretched in the bed, "It wasn't a nightmare, I had one of those dreams where I fell off a cliff and woke up." Rowan wasn't sure if her nightmares were related to Vecna's Curse or not. So she decided to stay silent. She had Max to worry about, and didn't want anyone to worry over no reason.

Max let out a small chuckle, Rowan joined her as they both smiled at each other. "We have to meet the others at the Wheeler's soon, we should get ready." Max said once they stopped chuckling at each other, Rowan nodded as she sat up.

She pulled out a puffy, ankle-length black skirt and a long sleeve black shirt from her dresser. She went into her bathroom, sighing as she looked in the mirror while she waited for the shower water to get warm. She looked hideous, a yellow-purplish bruise covered her nose and her under eyes were black. Her nose hurt but didn't feel broken.

She smiled as the hot water burned her skin, engulfing her body in comforting warmth. She let her thoughts wander to Eddie. She was wondering how he was doing, knowing he was probably terrified and tired of being alone. She made a mental note to buy an air mattress and a blanket for him to use so he wouldn't be uncomfortable. She wanted to do anything she could to make the awful circumstance a little better - even if it was something as dumb as an air mattress and blankets.

She turned off the shower after she was finished, drying her hair and brushing her teeth once she got dressed.

As she waited for Max to get out of the shower, she ran to her trunk once she made sure no one was watching. She opened the book bag, looking through the assortment of drugs. She wasn't sure if she should snort any drugs or not but decided to try anyway.
