[1] They Meet Again

The Grammy Award slips out of her hand as she tries to grasp it. She's too late, or so she thought. A hand reached for it, the person walks under the red line to grab it. She is low near the ground as she puts down her other 2 Grammy Awards. She looks up and bumps heads with the brown eyed boy with the messy hair. He looked like a fine gentleman in a black suit, smartly dressed. She is speechless but snaps out of it as she is blinded by the flashing lights from the cameras at every corner. She gets up and covers her face. 

"Oh no, this'll be all over the news now!" Olivia thought to herself.

"Here you go, Ma'am." He nods as he gives the Award back to her and leaves. 

He adjusts his suit and walks over to the drink table. She takes a few more pictures but looks over to the direction of the boy. 

"Olivia, this way!" 

"Right, got it, sorry" And she smiled a fake smile, posing with all 3 of her awards.

She kept on smiling as the camera lights flashed on her face. On the outside, she was just being "Liv". Smiling and being happy, without a thought. Everyone thought she was just a sweet young woman trying to enjoy every moment of her teenage years. But on the inside, all she could think about was him. She felt as though he still cared. He did care enough to reach out of the barrier and grab the award for her. It would've been broken if he hadn't. She missed him after all these years. She didn't want to face him though. Not after the guilt that washed over her. You see, when she had received the overnight success of her song "Drivers License", she hadn't had time to process everything because it all happened so fast. So fast that she forgot about him. He had recently gotten admitted to the hospital in January, when her hit song was released. He had also released a song called "Lie Lie Lie." Anyways, she hadn't visited him and hadn't talked to him since Drivers License's release. 

When the photo shoot was done, she nervously walked up to him. She cracked her knuckles and made sure nobody was looking. He took a sip of his drink as he was leaning on the table with one arm but was quick to move away.

"Hey, uh, Josh, look, hey where are you going?"

"As far as I can be from you" He muttered.

"Look, uhm, I'm really sorry about what happened to you and when I tried to visit you, I couldn't face the look on your face, the pain you'd be in"

"Oh, yeah?" He scoffed. "The only reason I was in pain was because of you." 

"Josh, you can hate me all you want but uh, I did want to come see you but then it would remind me of everything that happened and-"

"Look, Liv, you don't need to explain it all, okay? Just live your life and I'll live mine. You're happier now."

"I wasn't before, I was hurt, without you. I can't live my life without you, Josh. You're like, a big part of my life,"

"Oh yeah? Tell that to the media." 

"Josh, you don't need to be so rude. I'm trying to fix things here-"

"Well, you're not fixing things!" He snapped back. "I waited months, for you to text me and you wouldn't even see me when I was on the verge of dying!" 

They were both yelling things that were inaudible. They were both shouting each other down. Everyone's head turned to the beverage table where 2 people, dressed in black were yelling at each other.

"I'm out," He said, putting his drink down and walking away.

"Oh," Olivia turned around to hear nothing and everyone's eyes staring only at her. She walked away with her awards in her arms. She walked out of the doors and fans were going wild. Everyone was screaming her name but she didn't feel excited or happy like she normally would. She would usually feel happy with her fans. She didn't bother signing albums or taking photos. Her body guards pushed the people away. She got into her car and put down the awards, angrily. She took off her black gloves and covered her face in shame. The awards meant nothing to her anymore. They couldn't after she felt everything was her fault. She knew she had made a big mistake. One, for yelling at him in front of everyone and Two, for even yelling at him. She knew he didn't deserve it. But she didn't either. Ugh, everything was confusing for her! She didn't know what to do. She was startled when the radio turned on. They started to read the headlines "Olivia Rodrigo Makes Interaction With Ex Joshua Basse-" 

"Can, you turn that down please? I think I've heard enough."

"Yes, Ma'am"

She felt warm from all the pressure and chaos so she told the driver to put the window down. They were driving when there was traffic. They waited and waited. It was taking long. Then, Olivia spotted a group of her fans, holding up signs with her lyrics on. This made her smile a bit. She waved at them and blew kisses. Then, they started singing her lyrics and her heart melted.

"GUESS YOU DIDN'T MEAN WHAT YOU WROTE IN THAT SONG ABOUT ME!"

Her fans were so adorable. 

Olivia finished the lyrics off "Cause' you said forever, now I drive alone past your street."

She felt so alone in the car, without his hand holding hers. His touch was what she missed the most. Oh how they would kiss in the taxi cab, and hold each other and never let go. She missed it all. The car stopped. She looked at the front of the car to see what was happening. No traffic. So, what seemed to be the problem? 

"Thank you" A boy's voice said.

He ducked his head to fit through the car door.

"Josh, hey, what are you doing-"

"Liv, I came to apologise, I'm sorry for yelling at you and yes, you were trying to help" He lifted her hand and kissed it. "I'm so sorry"

The front door opened. 

"Who's this guy?" Adam asked. Adam Faze was Olivia's current boyfriend. "And why, is he here kissing your hand?"

"Oh, it was just a friend thing, right Josh?" Joshua didn't do anything he just nodded. He excused himself and left. But, gave Olivia a piece of paper.

"Bye,"

What was it for? Why did he give it? Was he planning something?

Thoughts ran in her head like circles. After one whole rotation of the questions, Adam got out of the car and went to the back to sit next to her. 

"So, tell me about your friend, babe" He grabbed her hand and kissed it. She immediately thought of Josh but shook her head.

"Everything okay, Olivia?" 

"Yeah, you know, uhm I'm f-fine." She took a pause and stared into space. 

"Liv?" She blinked hard and looked up through the car's window.

"Yeah hey, can we start driving cos like what happened-"

"Yes, Ma'am" and so they drove off. Driving in the car. Joshua and Olivia. Driving. Thoughts.

"Am I going crazy?" She quietly muttered under her breath.

"Hey, shhh, it's okay. Alright? Just take a deep breath and it'll all be fine."

"Okay, thank you so much Adam, you really are the best."
