I got off the live shortly, wanting to just have a little moment between me and Dalton.
I hadn't known where he had taken me but it was only a matter of seconds until I recognized the place.
"Dalton-" I said, my mouth wide in shock as we stopped in front of a beautiful river.
"Hm?" He hummed, trying to sound all innocent.
"Is there we you took me graduation night?" I asked, instantly recognizing the beautiful love lock fence with fairy lights.
He hummed in agreement, coming up closely behind me. "Wanna go find our lock?"
I bite my lip, trying to hide the massive grin on my face. I nodded and tried to remember where I had put that damn lock at.
It felt like we were barely searching for long because I remember exactly what the lock looked like. It was a gold lock shaped like a heart that had rhinestones outlining the heart.
It also something sweet on the back written in sharpie.
"Hey, angel." I froze once I heard that. I haven't heard that name in years. "I found it."
I looked over as he was holding onto the same lock from 2 years ago. I felt my heart beat faster as I walked over and his hand feel down to my hip.
A smile grew on my face as I grabbed it and turned it back and forth in my hands. As I looked at the lock, millions of thoughts began to float around in my head.
What was holding me back?
Dalton had already told me he never lost feelings for me, long distance isn't an issue anymore, and we're both at pretty stable points in our careers.
What the fuck was I doing?
And just as quick as the thoughts came in, the words flew out of my mouth before I even had a chance to think over what I was going to say.
"Dalton, why aren't we together?"
I knew my question had caught him off guard by the way he froze up beside me and his hand that (I had just now noticed) was stroking my waist had stopped.
I knew he needed a moment to think over what I said and truth be told, so did I. It took me by surprise when he grabbed my hips and spun me to face him.
"I don't know."
"What?" I stuttered, confused on what he had meant.
"I don't know why we're not together. But to be honest, everything is up to you. I don't want to rush you and you already know where I stand on us being in a relationship." He shrugged as my mouth fell open in shock.
"So, you want to get back together?" I asked so quietly that I was surprised he even heard me.
"Just answer this." He paused, taking a deep breath.
