Ideal Beauty

Scars are proof you have lived while alive

Your skin, it changes, mutates and ages

Holding on to the important lines

Carved from reactions, stages and places

Perhaps now your arms have indelible scars

A feeling that sinks when your heart remembers

Our body knows remembers our trama

At times we must embrace it

These are battle wounds, wars you have won

Think of it as artwork that can't be undone

Pay attention

Health is more important than the way you are supposed to look

A pair of love handles don't make you any less beautiful

If your nails don't grow as long

No need to obsess

it just means you learn better when using your hands

When you feel gloomy about callouses on your feet

Remember the movements they worked hard to achieve

When you brush your teeth don't ignore the mirror

It is no enemy for reflecting your figure

Who knew our eyes could play such tricks on us

Disfiguring the worth we hold by so much

We go beyond what can be seen

The scale is no friend of your mental stability

Your thighs, your chin

Your stretch marks, your neck

Are simply marks of your book cover

Eager to be read

Keep Holding On

I wear my scars as a conversation starter

Proudly hold both my hearts on my sleeves

I am an open book from start to finish

Except for the daemons I haven't learnt to whip

I know I can come across strong

As if confidence had a home in me

But know the reason I'm comfortable

Is in my pain I found Identity

It may not be the best journey

Or a road easy to travel

But living once and this shortly

I wouldn't shelter from what is harder

You see my wounds gave me compassion

Gave me time to smell the roses

To look closely at every colour

And behind each hue find a purpose

I let my lungs fill with sea breeze

Let my skin absorb the sun

I tell myself how lucky I am

For having lived this long
