The ball room was lovely, decorated with gold decor. But I didn't want to be there. I didn't know anybody and I was all alone since my mother left me to talk to other parents. I walk around the dance floor looking around at the different suitors. I look across and see the Bridgertons enter. Daphne, the seasons diamond. She's so beautiful. Then there's the three brothers, Anthony, Benedict, and Colin. None of them stuck out to me except Benedict.
I had liked him for years. I had first met him when I first became friends with Eloise and Penelope. I walk towards them when I am stopped by a suitor.
"May I have this dance?"
"Of course." I painfully smile.
He violently glides me around the room. I try to reach someone's eye contact to save me, when I see Benedict tapping his shoulder.
"I'm sorry to interrupt. But I couldn't help but come ask you to dance miss. Would you like to accompany a dance with me?" Benedict smiles.
"Why yes. Thankyou dear sir for the dance." I smiled to the suitor.
Benedict took my hand into his and I place my other hand on the back of his neck.
"Thank you Benedict. How could I ever repay you?"
"You don't need to repay me. Just continue dancing with me." He smirks.
"I can definitely do that." I say leaning my head on his shoulder.
Time went by quickly because my mother called me. I raised my head from Benedict's shoulder and sighed.
"Guess I should go."
"Well you don't have to go right away." He said.
"Benedict, my mom just said our carriage is here to pick us up."
"Come with me." He says taking my hand once again.
We run outside of the large mansion and into the hedge and garden. I flop down on the floor, making my dress poof up for a second. I snort and then immediately covered my face.
"Sorry."
"No it was cute." He laughs.
He sits right next to me. I pull at my gloves until they slide off my hands. I throw them far into the bushes.
"Guessing you don't like the idea of balls?"
"What made you think that?" I laugh.
I take the tiny crown on my head and throw it away from us as well. While doing this I hadn't noticed Benedict had taken my hand into his once again. I looked down and blushed.
"Y/n?"
"Yeah?" I whispered.
"May I court you this season?"
I didn't say anything but nodded. He smirked and turned back his head to face the open sky. I leaned my head on his shoulder.
"We should get you home soon."
"Yeah." I sighed.
