Y/N wanders through the gloomy underground city in search of his one and only close friend, Ekko.

Limping towards the last place he knew Ekko would be, before the battle that killed his father figure and took his two sisters away from him, is at Benzo's shop. (Y/n) slowly makes his way towards the shop in the dark city of Zaun. Eventually, making it to Benzo's after what felt like hours to get there.

The boy opens the door to the shop, finding the only thing he was determined to find at that moment: Ekko. The white-haired boy sits on the counter crying but stops when he hears the door open. Ekko finds his best friend standing in the doorway, tired, weak, and covered with burns and cuts.

Wiping his tears with the back of his hands, Ekko climbs down from the country to the aid of his best friend. "What happened? Where is everyone?" Ekko asked with great concern. All (Y/n) could muster was a couple of lung-burning coughs and groans of pain. The boy felt like he was still in that burning building, afraid of dying like the rest of his family in that inferno.

"We... We have to go." (Y/n) could finally say through gridded teeth. Ekko still had questions. His tear-stained cheeks were proof of that. "Y/n. What happened?" Ekko asked once more. It took a moment for (Y/n) to say anything. The thoughts of Claggor, Mylo... Vander... His sisters... It was flooding his head at once. He couldn't take it anymore. In all the burning pain he was feeling, nothing could be more intense than the emotions he'd been hit with at that moment.

(Y/n) finally collapsed to the floor. The adrenaline fleeing his body, finally. The blue-haired boy breaks down from the rush of emotion, and all Ekko can do is watch. "They're gone." (Y/n) said through tears. "They're all gone! Vander... Violet... Powder... Everyone! Gone!" (Y/n) brings his hands to his face to wallow in grief and pain. He doesn't know what to do. He has no idea what he can do or where to go from here. He's lost all over again, like he was on the bridge the day he lost his parents, only he was alone this time.

Of course, he had Ekko. His best friend since the battle of Zaun and Piltover but what was he to do? Ekko had no idea what was going on. He had only just learned the deaths of his friends while grieving the loss of Benzo. It was all too much for the both of them. All they could do was cry.

To (Y/n), Ekko was a brother to him. (Y/n) always wanted a brother; he would even ask his parents for one when they came home from work before the battle on the bridge. They'd always look awkward when he would ask, and he never knew why, of course. He was tired of having sisters, but now, his sisters are the only things he wants. The only family he can call to now is his best friend and brother, Ekko.

After a time, their tears subsided, and they knew they couldn't stay in the shop forever. The world was going to change around them, and they knew that. "We need to get out of here. We have to hide. Maybe find a place to hold up while we figure out what to do next." (Y/n) said through hiccups.

Ekko sniffled a bit, but he nodded and agreed to that idea. They couldn't stay there, but where could they go? Nowhere is safe for them right now. Ekko stood up and lent his best friend a hand to help him. (Y/n) struggled to stand in his pain, but he stood tall afterward. He knew they would be okay, and he was determined to keep it that way.

Before (Y/n) reached for the door, Ekko had run over to one of the shelves in the shop that displayed a bunch of random masks. The boy grabbed two off the shelf and brought one back for the other. "To keep our faces from being seen by people." Ekko said, handing (Y/n) one of the masks.

The mask Ekko had put on wasn't a well-built one. It looked like it was still being worked on but it would have to do for now. His mask looked almost similar to an owl. The mask (Y/n) was given looked odd but strangely familiar. His mask was in the same condition as Ekko's, but it was a strange-looking mask. His mask had huge circles for eyes, almost like bug eyes, but they had green lenses instead of dark circles one could see through. His mask looks bug-like, maybe something like the bug he's seen flying around so often—the firelights.
