The blast of the explosion reached the three as they watched smoke and debris fly from the building. Caitlyn cried on her knees while Vi comforted her. (Y/n) just watched the smoke rise and the debris fall. "Oh, Pow-Pow. Finally, making your name known. Just not like this." (Y/n) he knew this was going to lead to a major problem between the topside and the undercity, but his home is where he needed to be. Help Ekko while the two cities clashed in a war that has been long coming.
Vi looked up at her brother as she held Caitlyn. "(Y/n)?" She wanted to know what could be going on in his head right then. He didn't want to talk to either of them at that moment, so he turned and walked down the ramp that used to be a catwalk. "Where are you going?" Vi asked once more.
"Home. Where I should be." (Y/n) walked next to the two. He stopped and looked at the sobbing Caitlyn. "I'm sorry. I really am." was all he could say before walking away. Vi watched her brother get further down the ramp. His attention was brought back to the city when the alarms started to scream across the streets of Piltover.
She turned back, thinking she would still see her brother, but he was gone. The siblings were back where they had started since Vander's death—alone, full of hatred, and scared. Vi realized that she had no one but Caitlyn now. Her sister was gone, and her brother wanted nothing to do with Topside, and he made that very clear. He would not help them no matter what they offered or how they asked him.
(Y/n) made it home and immediately went to look for Ekko. As he went towards the tree, a familiar voice called his name. (Y/n)'His attention was drawn by his voice, and he saw a good friend of his and Ekko's, Scar. "Hey, Ekko here?" (Y/n) asked. Scar simply nodded up the tree. "He's up there with the Professor." Scar explains.
(Y/n) got confused for a moment. "Professor? Professor of what?" (Y/n) said. Scar chuckled for his friend. "Professor Heimerdinger. The old Yordle from the council is up there with Ekko right now. He helped our boy get back home. Which reminds me, what the fuck were you doing? Leaving Ekko there so you could deal with 'family issues?'" Scar added.
"Don't start that with me right now. I need to talk to Ekko about 'family issues,' and with that attitude, you just pulled on me right about now; good luck joining our conversation." (Y/n) jokingly said he turned to walk up the tree to look for Ekko and supposedly, Professor Heimerdinger.
After a quick trip up the stairs, he turned into the makeshift lab and found who he was looking for. "(Y/n)!" Ekko said as he rushed out of his chair to pat (Y/n) on his shoulder firmly. "You okay?" He asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. I need to talk to you about what's happened, but how's that leg of yours?" (Y/n) asked him out of concern. Ekko chucked and tapped his friend in the arm. "I should ask the same about you." Ekko responded.
The two boys laughed for a moment. "What we need to talk about has to wait, I need you to meet someone first." Ekko said before turning to address the other person in the room. "Professor Heimerdinger! It's an honor to meet you." (Y/n) said, holding his hand out to shake the Professor's hand. "Likewise, my dear boy, likewise. Ekko here was telling me of all the trials and adventures you two have been through. I may be three hundred and thirteen years old, but you have lived more than I have!" The old professor said with his chirpy attitude and high-pitched voice. (Y/n) may have his opinions about the council members and what they do, but he knew he was going to get along well with the professor very quickly.
But he had to know why the old Yordle was there in the first place. "Excuse my bluntness, Professor, but what are you doing here?" (Y/n) asked to be sure that this kind, small Professor wasn't there to get intel about the Firelights. "No need for apologies, lad. I understand your concern about my presence. Well, long story short, I was 'retired' from my role in the council. A student of mine had dreams and expectations that I believed weren't ready. Therefore, I felt the need to leave. I ventured into your city to find there was no hope left in its residents. As I was planning to leave, I stumbled upon Ekko, and he showed me the contraption that both of you had created together. Quite fascinating, I might add. Ekko then took me to your home, and to my astonishment, you had this tree that had grown in your lifetime! I had to research and study such beauty. Ekko took the time to explain your contraptions and firelight duties to me. He gave me details about you and your history as well. I do apologize for the misfortune you two had endured to be at this point. I do hope my stay here won't be too much of a bother for you!" Professor Heimerdinger finished with a big grin through his hairy mustache and with his small hands clasped together.
