(told in perspective of Matthew)
After I had plotted the points for our new destination, everyone was back from their plans and ready to go. Pandal and Woody had just finished making something down in the woodworking shop, and I was curious to see what they had made. Pandal shrugged and showed me a small windup toy he had made, it was carefully painted and carved, and its vibrant colors gleamed underneath the layer of epoxy.
"Figured I could give it to my Mom once we get back, I didn't exactly get to go check on her because of the extensive interviews that the Media base HAD to require." He rolled his eyes and tossed it to me. "Do you think she'll like it?" He sat down next to me and stretched.
"Yeah, I think she'll love it." I gave it back to him and we sat, waiting for everyone else to get back.
"So... How's the dog name coming?" I asked as we sat there.
"Still haven't come up with anything yet, and speaking of the dog, I'd better walk him before we go." Pandal jumped up and grabbed a leash he had just bought. He called the dog and hooked him on the leash, then he took the dog outside. Suddenly, Danny burst in with tears in her eyes.
"Danny?" I looked at her with concern, "Danny? Are you alright?" She turned around and looked at me.
"No, if I were alright, I wouldn't be crying right now, would I?" She snapped.
"Point taken." I put my hands up as if surrendering. "So what happened?" I asked her.
She sighed, "Draco."
"Ohhhhhhhh." The room went silent, Danny turned away and her sniffling grew louder. "Do you want me to talk to him?" She turned around and shook her head.
"No, I'll do it. Besides, I still need to pack anyways." She stormed off and slammed the bedroom door behind her. Then Cassandra and Brutus walked in. They noticed my perplexed face.
"I'm guessing Draco and Danny crashed through here, any chance you know where they ended up?" Cassandra joked.
"I only saw Danny, if Draco came this way, he didn't come in the house." I told her and then her face grew annoyed.
She sighed, "I'll go look for him." She shoved open the door and I heard her call, "DRACO!" right as the door closed.
"So, guess it's been a rough day for most of you, how have you been?" Brutus sat down in a chair at the table.
"Same as usual, yeah, I had a date with Cass, it was really nice outside which made it a really nice picnic, other than that, everything was sort of going normally until we came back and those two were balling their eyes out." Brutus shook his head. "So where we heading."
"The Mystic Mountains, with a bit more research I found out that a pass in the mountain opens up the exact same time every other day, and lucky for us, we can get there in about 20 minutes tops about 10 minutes before it opens. Unless we have some unexpected setbacks..." I look over to the bedroom door and heard Danny crying, "...correction, we have setbacks." I sighed and leaned back, "Let's just hope we make it in time."
(told in perspective of Cassandra)
"Draco!!! Where are you?" I walked around the house and I went around to the back. There, I found Draco, his eyes red and his sketchbook out, his ultimate stress reliever. I walked over to him and sat down. "Hey, it's ok Draco." I patted his back and looked over his shoulder at his drawing. He was sketching Danny, and as he carefully shaded her eyes, I put my hand on his shoulder. "That's really good Draco, you should show it to her." He shook his head.
"You and I both know she doesn't like me at all. Why would showing her this make her change her mind?" He loudly slapped his book shut and he tucked the pencil he was using behind his ear.
"That isn't true Draco, why do you think that she's in there, right now, moping around just as much as you are? Huh?" I gave him a playful shove and he just rolled his eyes.
"Maybe because she absolutely hates me for what I just did?" He got up and started walking to the back door.
"Come on Draco, just give it a shot?" I pleaded him.
"If your so desperate, why don't you just show her yourself?" He shoved the sketchbook in my hand and walked away. I looked down and gently opened up the sketchbook, flipping through the pages, the first picture, Danny, the second, Danny, the third, Danny as well. I sighed and shut the book. Then I walked inside and Matthew and Brutus looked up.
"So, how'd it go with the other moody teen?" Brutus asked sarcastically.
"He was sort of writing love letters, but instead of writing, he drew them." I handed the sketchbook to Brutus, "Here, take a look." He flipped through the pages and he nodded.
"Kids got skill... Is he gonna show Danny?" Brutus handed it back to me.
"Nah, he left that part up to me." I sighed. Is Danny still in there?" I asked, pointing towards the bedroom.
"Yeah, but I wouldn't bother her to much." Matthew shrugged. I slowly walked towards the door and opened it. Then I shut the door behind me.
"Hey Danny." I said as I walked in.
"What do you want? And if your here to lecture me about how great your brother is I don't want to hear it." Danny sneered. She angrily piled her clothes into a suit case.
"I'm not here to lecture you, I just wanted you to see this." I held out the sketchbook and she rolled her eyes, quickly snatching it from my hands. Then she started flipping through and her face softened.
"Are these..." She looked up at me and I nodded. She looked down and sighed. "He's a nice guy, you know?" I laughed and nodded.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I would know that." I joked.
"No seriously, I didn't want to hurt his feelings, but I don't want to date now. Not after what happened to my family, not after all the people that were close to me died before my very eyes, and all because of this war." She threw one of her shirts at the wall, "I do admittedly like him, but I am trying not to, because I don't want to hurt him." She sadly placed the sketchbook down on the bed.
"Just be careful, because in the process of not hurting him physically, your hurting him emotionally." I took the sketchbook and walked out, leaving Danny's face completely perplexed, and her mind filled with new thoughts and feelings. I shook my head and walked out, finding Draco sitting right by the door. I rolled my eyes and knelt down next to him. "I believe this belongs to you sir." I slapped him on the head with his sketchbook then handed it to him. I started walking away.
"Thanks Cass." He said and I paused.
"Anything for you little bro." I waved and walked away.
