A Week later

Electra's pov

I had a child abuse case.

It was the worst thing I've ever been through. That's not even the sad part.

The sad part is, the mom won.

The poor baby was getting abused by her mother.

The judge didn't believe the dad because he had a record. I feel so bad for the father and his child.

I walk into my house and go straight to my room. Going into the bathroom I turn the shower on the highest setting and strip of all my clothes.

My mind being clouded by the father's face when the judge made the decision. Stepping into the hot shower shower. I stand under the water it burning my skin as it streams down, but its too late to care.

Washing all the court house energy off of me. I turn the water off, stepping out the shower, wrapping myself in my robe. Deciding to skip my entire nighttime skin care routine. I turn all the lights off and get in the bed. Wrapping myself in the covers.

I cry silent tears.

Aaron, all I want is Aaron. But he's on a case in California.

San Francisco, California.

2 thousand 8 hundred 37 miles away.

The thought of him being so far makes me cry harder. I cry for what feels like hours.

Aaron's pov

We finished the case and now I'm on the plane home.

I didn't tell Flora because I wanted to surprise her.

Pulling into her driveway I park by the garages. Getting out the car I grab the bouquet of white roses. I lock my car, walking up to the door. Unlocking it with the key she gave me.

Odd, all the lights are off. Kayla and Mia are out of town but Flora would usually sit and read in the living room. Walking towards her bedroom the door is slightly cracked. Pushing it open the lights are off in there also. Shes sleeping. walking closer to the bed I notice she isn't sleeping. She's crying.

"Flora" I say and she screams.

"I'm so sorry. I didnt mean to scare you" I say quickly.

"It's okay" she says in a raspy voice.

"What's wrong? Why are you crying" I say sitting on the edge of the bed putting the flowers on the night stand.

"Its okay, I'm okay" she whispers, sitting up but quickly laying back down.

"Tough case?" I ask already knowing the answer. She starts crying again at the reminder of the case she had. Pulling her into my arms she wraps her arms around my torso. I just let her cry it out.

"Let it out" I whisper to her. After a hour or so, her breath evens out. Shes asleep. I lay her down in the bed to I can change into my pajamas. Changing quickly I go to the kitchen for a bottle of water and a vase for the flowers. Walking back to the room I double checked the door is locked before heading off to bed. I put the flowers in the vase and the water on the night stand.

The next morning.
