On the drive home I think about what Ben said. Would I have given Ash the time of day if he had approached me normally? How would I react if a big tall scary looking man had walked up to me and asked me about the weather? Ben is right I wouldn't have given him the time of day but things still could have gone differently. Either way the past is in the past and no one can change it. Things went down and now I'm marked. I can't change it I can't undo what's been done. All I can do now if focus on being a good Luna. And even as things are here, they are way better than where I would be if I was back home with him. I flinch at the thought and shake my head to get rid of it.

"You alright."Ben asks as we pull up to my mates house.

"All good."I say and give him a thumbs up.

He nods but watches me closely as I get out of the car.

"Thanks for taking me" I say to Ben as we carry my stuff up to my room.

"No problem Luna."

I give him a small smile and he leaves me to unpack my stuff.

After about an hour I have gotten nowhere. I keep finding things and messing with them. Kind of like when I would clean my room as a kid and I would find all these random this and get sidetracked from what I was supposed to be doing.

I finally get pulled out of my weird daze when I here a knock on the door.

"Uh.. Hello?" I call out.

I hear a light chuckle form behind the door. "Are you almost ready for dinner princess?"

"Hugh yeah give me 5 minutes and I'll meet you at the door." I call out.

Shit, shit shit. How could I forget about dinner? I quickly find a cute sundress and some sandals to throw on before applying a light layer of mascara to my lashes. I grab my purse and race down the stairs. And meet my mate by the door. I slow down and catch my breathe before I approach him.

My mates looks me up and down and smiles. "You look beautiful princess."

I blush a little. "Thank you. You don't look to bad yourself."

He shakes if head and smiles before opening the door for me.

We walk around the side of the house and for the first time I see his car collection. How rich is this guy? Jesus Christ that's like 10 cars. Nice cars.

I guess I must have stopped in awe because my mate is staring at me from a nice red car parked a few feet away. I quickly compose myself and walk to the car. Ash opens the passenger door for me and I get in. After Ash closes my door he jogs around the front of the car and gets in the drivers seat.

"Nice car." I say.

Ash smirks. "I know."

"Asshat."

Ash just smiles and starts up the car. The engine purrs to life and we're off to dinner.

——-

A little while later we get to the restaurant and get sat down for dinner.

"Have you eaten here before?" I ask Ash trying to make conversation.

"Yeah I couple of times but I don't really got out much."

I nod and look at the menu. "Do you like the food her or do you wanna go somewhere else?"

"No, no this is great. I just meant that my mom made a lot of home cooked meals. She was the best cook in the pack."

I look up at him. "Was?" I ask.

He gives me a sad look. "I'll tell you later princess just figure out what you want to eat."

With that I don't ask anymore questions. We order and have dinner to head out back to the pack.

————

"Dinner was good, thank you." I say.

"Well of course darling."

I wait a minute then ask. "Your mom was the best cook?"

Ash says and rubs his face. "Yeah my mom was the best cook until she died."

I don't say anything and just wait for him to continue.

"She died in a rouge attack a week before I became Alpha. They got to her before I could and..."

"It's okay." I say and try to comfort him.

"She was so beautiful; you know? Like the type of beautiful where she didn't even have to try. She just was. And she was so kind and forgiving.... Everyday I wish that I could have been there for her when she needed me most." Ash sniffles.

I nod and don't push the subject anymore. "So what about your dad?"

"Oh my dad is a typical retired Alpha. He uh lives on the edge of the pack and helps me out when I need it. He has a big BBQ every month for the whole pack. He like everyone's grandpa now that he isn't Alpha anymore." Ash explains.

"Cool." I say. "I need to meet him."

"Yeah I'm gonna introduce you to the pack tomorrow morning so that everyone knows how you are. I mean they know that you're my mate obviously but that need a formal introduction."

I nod and stay quiet the rest of the way home. I watch the trees past. Then out of the corner of my eye I see a figure. I turn to get a better look at it and it starts to chase the car. I freak out and scream causing my mate to hit the breaks.

"Sky! What is it?!"

"Drive!" I scream.

My mate steps in the gas and I fly back in my seat. I look back to see if the creature is still chasing us but when I look back I don't see anything but trees.

"Sky what the hell was that!? Are you okay?" My mate asks with worried voice.

I take a deep breathe and close my eyes. "Yeah I'm okay. I just saw something chasing us out of the corner of my eye. It was probably nothing I'm probably just tired, I'm sorry."

Ash sighs in relief when I finish explaining. "It's ok I'm not mad, you just scared me."

I nod and continue to watch the trees the rest of the way home. The figure looked familiar. It looked like... no. It can't be him, right? I moved half way across the country with no notice and without telling anyone. There's no way that he found me. There's no way.
