Rain is the best thing in the world. I love the sound of it of a tin roof. And the way it makes people flee to the indoors. I love the rain on my face. It cools me down. And the sound drowns out the world. I can be alone with my thoughts.

So that's where I am. I'm sitting out behind My mates house and letting the rain pour down on me. I haven't seen him since I left him in the room. That was a few hours ago now.

How could he do that to me? I didn't even have a choice in the mater. He just made my decision for me. Now I'm marked and I can never leave. I don't get my own life. I'm his now. If I run he would just find me. My life is over. Now I'm the Luna of a pack I've never met.

Over my shoulder I here a door open and footsteps on the wet grass. My mate walks up behind me slowly and stops. He takes a deep breath like he is about to say something but he stops himself.  I don't move or acknowledge that he is even there. I keep my eyes on the woods in front of me.

Finally he says, "I'm sorry princess ."

I don't say anything except shake my head and look down at the grass.

He sighs and sits down next to me.

We sit there in the rain for a while not saying anything. I listen to the rain hit the ground and enjoy it as it runs down my face.

"Your gonna get sick if you stay out here." He says breaking the silence.

"I'm fine." I say shortly.

He shakes his head. "I'm worried about you. I don't want you to get hurt."

"You hurt me." I say trying not to cry.

He sighs. "I'm sorry princess."

"I don't care." I sob.

We sit in silence again for a few minutes. No words just rain. It hits my head a runs down my face like tears. It soothes me.

Then I say, "The rain won't hurt me. It's helps me." I put my hand out and a few drops hit my hand. "Rain calms me down and lets me think. It's comforting. Rain is peaceful and it makes people flee. It listens to my worries and drowns out my pain..... The rain would never hurt me."

He doesn't say anything just nods watching me.

"The sound it makes as it hits the ground and the way it makes things look so refreshed and beautiful. It makes me feel refreshed and beautiful. I love the rain. Everything about it. Every sound. Every feeling."

I look over at him and his face is sad. Rain soaks his clothes and his hair. If I weren't mad at him I might think he's cute.

"You didn't give me a choice." I say. "You didn't give me a chance. No warning. Nothing."

He locks eyes with me.

"You didn't even try to make me fall for you." I explain.

He looks at his hands and picks at his skin. "I'm sorry."

"There's not much we can do about it now." I say looking back at the woods. "I wish I were a bird. I could fly around the world and have no worries." I sigh. "But I'm not a bird. I'm your mate. I'm a human. I have responsibilities. I'm a Luna now...... I don't have a choice anymore, so I'm gonna be the best Luna this pack will ever have. I can promise that."

My mate takes in my words and nods. "I shouldn't have forced this on you but I couldn't help it. When I turned 23 I thought that the moon goddess hated me and would never bless me with a mate. Then I saw you. It was as great as everyone had described. You were beautiful and just perfect in every way. The moment I saw you I promised the moon goddess I would protect you and never let you go. I guess I haven't done a very good job."

"I understand." I sigh. "We need to come to an agreement here." My mate looks at me. "I need to except that the mate bond effects you very strongly. You need understand that I am a human and we are both young and we have our whole life ahead of us so I don't want to be rushed." My mate nods as I continue. "I want to fall in love. I want some normal in my life. And we need to talk things though, both of us get a say in the decisions we make. Both of us get a choice."

"That sounds like a deal to me." Ash sticks out his hand and we shake on it. "You really need to get inside though. You body feels very cold to me and I'm worried."

"Five more minutes." I bargain.

"Fine but then a warm shower." He says.

"That seems fair."

We sit there for a few more minutes then we get up and head inside.

"Would you like to go to dinner with me tomorrow night?" Ash asks me when we make it inside.

"That sounds fun but I want to pick the place."

"Perfect." He says.

I smile at him and he smiles back. I feel like we may finally be getting somewhere in our relationship.
