Alessandro has been in bed all day. This morning I gave him a tall glass of orange juice and some toast to calm his stomach.

I lay across the couch with a plate of fruit and my hand on the remote lazily scrolling through mindless TV.

"Hey, Elise." I hear a voice.

I sit upright and look to see Alessandro's mom.

"Hi!" I put the plate on the coffee table.

"How's Alessandro doing?" Shes asks.

"He's been sleeping all day." I sigh. "I checked in and he was asleep with his computer in his lap." I laugh and roll my eyes.

"You know what? We're going to make a feel better soup." She nods her head.

"Chicken noodle soup?"

She tisks. "No, no. Minestrina soup."

We got right to the kitchen and prepped this magical remedy. She boiled water and got the pasta ready while I cut up parmesan and mozzarella. Then we boiled the pasta, saved the water and combined everything together.

"Lastly, olive oil." she drizzled it over the dish. "Alright, love have some too." She made me plate.

"Thank you for teaching me the recipe!" I graciously took the bowls.

"Bella, you will learn all my recipes. You're the one, I can tell." She winks.

A pit forms in my stomach at the lie I'm feeding her. Alessandro will not act the way he has been when his parents leave. Strange women will walk in and out of this house and he will act as if I'm a ghost in the house.

Poor mom and dad are being feed a lie. For I'm not sure how long.

"Right." I nod. I take the bowls and give a goodbye kiss on the cheek with my hands full.

"Ciao, tell Alessandro he better eat it all." She raises her eyebrows. I smile and nod.

Opening the door to his room, he lays with his head stuffed in a pillow and his back out while he lays stomach down on the bed.

I place the bowls on the nightstand and the forks clatter. He stirs a little and removes his head for between the pillows.

"I brought you pasta." I tap his burning shoulder.

"Mines- pasta." He slurs out.

"Yup." I wait for him to turn over.

I take a pill from the bathroom and scurry back to the awaken Alessandro. His hair goes in every which direction and he looks like he's lost.

"Take this." I place a fever reducing pill in his hand. He dry swallows and shakes his head. "Should've swallowed with water." I place a glass in his hand.

He shrugs. "You better sleep in your room. I don't want to get you sick." He picks his pasta up.

"Right. Finally." I roll my eyes and smirk. He doesn't see though.

He leans back and I let him sleep once again. The day goes on with me bringing small things like crackers and juice to him, and carrying down his dishes and trash.

Night comes around and I head to my room. I sit on the bed and turn on the TV.

It's noisy and should fill up the room but it feels so...empty. I groan and snatch a pillow. Hugging it, it smells like lavender and detergent, nothing like the sort of cherry- smokey smell I'm used to.

I ignore my urge to burst into Alessandro's room and snatch Killer away. Now, I can't sleep. My mind is restless and I debate whether to grab Killer or not.

Shoving the covers off me I leave my room and stand outside of Alessandro's doors. I pace back and forth and can faintly hear Killer snoring.

Quietly, I open the door and Killer immediately gets up. His stance is scary and he starts growling.

"it's me." I whisper. "killer. it's just me!"

He still snarls and he must be trained because he nudges the hand Alessandro has off the bed. Alessandro wakes up. Crap.

"Assassino. Down." Alessandro rasps out. He squints in my direction and I visibly shrink. "Elise?"

"I. I couldn't sleep. I wanted to see if Killer would come with me." I look away embarrassed.

Fully hearing my voice Killer wags his tail and walks towards me.

He takes a deep breath and hms before he turns to his side. He opens up the blanket and says, "Come on."

He leaves the blanket open and I close the door before coming closer.

"I only wanted Killer." I say as I get in.

"I know." His voice is so deep when he's sleepy.

"I- mean your bed is more comfy so I won't oblige and if I-"

"Don't explain yourself Elise." He aimlessly pats towards my body. His hand hits the small part in my waist.

"right." I say and pick up Killer.

"Elise I don't like him on the bed." He sighs.

"But, I came here for him. He's my guard dog."

"I'm right here."

"Please Alessandro?" I whine. It always worked with my dad.

"You're so annoying. Make sure his tail doesn't hit me." He grunts.

~

Killer wakes me up by his tail in my face. I wipe his big booty out my face and squint to see Alessandro in the mirror putting a tie on. Killer watches him and wags his tail.

"Damn Killer." I try to move him. "Your tail hurts."

He looks back at me and still ignores my complains.

"Couldn't sleep huh?" Alessandro says.

I look up and he's putting cuff links at the end of his sleeves. And boy can I enjoy the view without admiring to him.

"I kept tossing and turning." I mumble.

"Did you miss me Elise?" He turns around. He leans against the dresser and I watch him watch me.

"I missed Killer. I told you." I huff.

He comes closer and leans over me. Never touching me. "But. You really missed me?" He snorts. He's such a dick.

"No Alessandro." I look away. "I did not miss you or your annoying ass. Do you still have a fever?" I remember. I press my hand against his head and he feels fine.

"No. I'm all healed." He goes back to his dresser.

"You can say thank you to me for that." I fake a curtise.

"Thanks you, Elise." He smirks.
