"honey," Mrs. Di Carlo starts. "Can I ask you something? About you and Alessandro?" She leans on the counter.

We've made a habit to cook since Alessandro's sick day. I enjoy it. She's a kind cooker, she never rushes me when my peeling skills are not up to her standards. She simply guides me to become better.

"Anything," I smile and take a sip of water.

"Are you ever intimate with Alessandro dear?" She blushes.

I almost choke out my water. "uh." I clear my
throat. "i-intimate?" I cough.

"I- I know. I shouldn't ask but, I-I'm worried I will never have any grandkids." She sighs. "And Sandros dad, well he doesn't seem to be getting better." She starts tearing up.

"Aw, Ms. Di Carlo. I understand your reasoning." I hug her.

"Good my love," She sniffles into my shoulder.
"I didn't ask to make you feel uncomfortable... I just worry. I worry I'll never have grandkids. His younger brothers are far too immature.
And Alessandro is the only child I have who is close to me." She bawls her eyes out.

I widen my eyes at the idea of being intimate with Alessandro. For his mother though.. I could at least be a little endearing to him? Could kiss him on the cheek or hold his hand?

Sleeping in the same bed with him is enough to drive me crazy so a whole kiss and hug blah blah is a bit awkward. Maybe small gestures? I need to do something to make this women happier.

"Mi amore," She pulls away and holds my face. "You are the daughter I never had. I'm so glad you're with my boy." She smiles with tears running down her face. "You're good to him." She pats my cheek.

If only she knew the half of it.

We set the table with the help of Mr. Di Carlo. We wait for Alessandro to be done with his work so we drink some wine.

"mhm!" Mr. Di Carlo exclaims. "What is this?"
He examines the bottle.

I hear Alessandro's shoes click against the wooden stairs and swiftly get up. I pull my dress at the hems and meet him in the entryway.

Looking back I see Mrs. Di Carlo's eyes on me. Perfect.

"Honey!" I greet with a smile. "We made your favorite pasta." I intertwine his fingers with mine. Pulling his hands down with his head I lean up and kiss his cheek. Then I lead him towards the table.

His eyebrows are furrowed until he sees the giant smile on his moms face. She taps her husband and he looks up from the bottle and looks down to our hands. He smiles and then Alessandro smiles.

His grip on my hand squeezes. His hand then releases my hand and one slips behind my ear and neck and leans my head up. He gives a kiss on my lips that feels like it's last forever when it was really only a millisecond. I keep my eyes open in surprise and blush as he and I sit down.

Keeping my hands in my lap I stare into the rug with pure surprise.

"How was work my son?"

~

We enter our room and I shut the door still astounded by the kiss.

"What is up with you?" He chuckles.

I give him a dumb look. "I kissed you on the cheek and you kissed me on the lips. Why? I obviously only did it for a little bit but you made it a full make out sesh. I. Infront of your parents?"

"I see why you're so flustered." He nods as he loosens his tie. "It's because it was such a good kiss. Memorable enough for you to be still stuck on it."

"You're a terrible kisser." I scoff.

"And you're a terrible liar."

"Trust me Alessandro. I've had many kisses and that was the worst one ever." I fake wipe at my mouth.

"Show me a good one." He teases.

I pull his tie and lean his neck down. "You wish." I nudge him away.

"You like to play with fire huh?" He catches me before I walk away.

"No. You're just infuriating and have a massive ego. You need to be reminded you're not the shit, and no one does that but me." I stick my nose up.

"Kiss me Elise. Do it. You won't." He smirks.

"You're so stupid." I grasp the sides of his head. I pull him close and he wraps arms around my waist. I lean into him and move my lips close to his but then swerve him. "To think I'd ever do anything you say." I laugh in his ear.

"Alright." He lets go of me. "No more kisses. Ever."

"Fine by me." I shrug. "Only Killer is worthy of my kisses." I hear Killer wag his tail while walking towards me.

"Thank you for making my parents happy." He shrugs his suit jacket off. "I actually saw my dad smile," He gives a small smile.

"I saw." I pet Killer. I didn't expect to make an impact today. It was just a small thing. "I want my phone." I blurt.

He groans and runs a hand through his hair. "Elise," He starts. "I w- I can't completely trust you..."

"Excuse me? I sleep next to you every night and you haven't died yet."

"That's, wow an unexpected threat, but not what I meant. I mean you calling you brothers or dad. Also I hate to break the news now but your phone is broken. We crushed it incase there was a tracker."

"What! All my photos and my contact and.." I ramble. "Alessandro? I need to talk to people other than you and your parents. I need to get out of this house and not for a business meeting. I need to feel like I'm not a prisoner even though I may as well be."

"I can. We can go out." He fidgets the buttons on his button down. "Maybe a friend could come over-"

"A friend!" I interrupt him. "Even for a day, I'd really really appreciate-"

"Ok. I get it." He sighs. "How about this. You bring a friend over for however long, no longer than two weeks," He warns. "And you can borrow my phone to make calls. But I monitor your calls and where you go, or at-least send a guard out with you."

I squeal. "If I didn't hate you so much I'd squeeze and hug you!" I giggle. "Ah! I need to call Penelope! Gimme your phone...please." I all but rush out.

"Now? It's... ten o'clock." He looks down at his watch.

"Ok old man, normal people are awake right now. Now may I use your phone?" I get up from the ground, where I was petting Killer.

He fishes his phone out of his pocket and unlocks it before putting it in my hand. He saunters off to the bathroom and I jump on top of the bed.

I speed dial Pen and three rings later she picks up.

"Hello?" She answers.

"Pen!" I squeal. "It's me Elise!"

"Elise?! Oh my- Girl. Your whole family has been avoiding me. Everytime I call your brothers to ask about where you've been they are so weird. I genuinely thought you died for a few weeks. Where have you been? And whose number is this?"

Alessandro walks out of the bathroom on time and in dark blue pajama pants and white tee. I hate how effortless handsome he looks. He shouldn't be. At all.

"This phone? Oh it um-" I look to Alessandro. "A friends.. I broke mine."

"How? Never mind that, where are you? I went to your house five times and your brothers only answered two time. And you were never there."

"I'm. Staying with a friend. It's... complicated." I hate lying to Pen.

Alessandro nods but give me a weird look at my lame responses.

"Ok, well when will you be back?"

"I'm not sure. I was actually calling to see if you'd come visit me?"

"Yess!! A million times. I have missed you so much Elise. You worried me sick at your disappearance."
