A farewell to the protagonist of DRV3

Scrapped Ideas

: I was going to have Y/N get into a full-blown fist fight with Kaito at the end of Kiyo's execution, it was going to happen when Y/N was punched in the nose by Kaito however as I was writing out the scene I decided that it was going to be unlike Y/N to lay a hand on someone whom he trusts, also because it would've probably made Y/N and Kaito making up even more complicated and complex to write in chapter 4, whilst I'm up for the challenge, it would've just been very uncharacistic. 

: Y/N actually dying fr during his execution, I was losing sleep contemplating if he should die or not however I chose against it both when people were mentioning how they really liked Y/N, and my unwillingness to cut off the book early in the name of laziness. 

: To be honest, I was gonna have Tsumugi live till the very end of the book, what would've happened was during the last execution Y/N would've shown up out of nowhere like the giga chad he is and tried to kill Tsumugi himself, however in doing so, he would say something like "You don't deserve an easy escape" and would've been able to save himself and Tsumugi from dying, though for plot relevance she would've passed out so she couldn't tell everyone whether what was true and what was false, I wrote a draft and had every single intention to write it out but what stopped me was the intrusive thought that Y/N should think he was gonna die calm and not-vengeful since it sounds better than trying to be angry till the very end. 

: Whilst I'm a little embarrassed to mention this however I was going to make Y/N's personality A LOT different than how he really turned out, similar to a beta design, he was gonna be a lot ruder and violent, but what made me significantly change him was the making of his backstory and decided that it wouldn't make sense for him to have a personality like that. 

: Y/N and Kiyo arguing right after Kiyo's trial, it would've gone something like....

"A-A-Are you serious!? I...can't believe I ever helped you! You're sick!" I yelled angrily, tears flowing down my cheeks.

"...How dare I? Have you forgotten what we've done thus far? You decided to help me, I never once asked you to. Your 'help' was your own conscious decision." Kiyo reminded me, his eyes narrowing.

"W-Well then...maybe this wouldn't have happened if you didn't give up so easily! I did my best to help you, it's your fault that you got found out! Y-Y-You were practically useless! Wh-When you started yelling...you made me nervous, it's all you're fault!" I shouted. 

"Excuse me?" Kiyo hummed, looking incredibly angry.

"Y-You heard me! I can't believe I used my brains to help someone as disgusting as you! I-I...I...!" I grunted, trying to hold back desperately. 

"You what? You may as well speak now since we're being so very honest." Kiyo told me, his expression darkening.

"I-I HATE YOU!" I yelled, Kiyo most certainly being able to hear me as the trial room became dead silent.

Though again, it was very uncharacteristic however I'm sure I could've just written it off as a 'heat of the moment' kind of thing, however, I'm sure you guys needed something a little softer rather than two best friends arguing as a final goodbye. Though, I made a few people cry with the chapter either way. 

: Simply just cutting out that scene in the trial 3 aftermath, those who have read the chapter know EXACTLY how dark in themes it was and whilst it made me nervous to write, it was even worse by the time it came to publish it, I ended up going to google translate to have some siri-sounding robot tell me that everything was gonna be okay, and I could feel myself sweating BULLETS when people started to comment on it, though the reason why I was so adamant on posting it was because I didn't like the idea of censoring the book, whilst Y/N is just a character I feel like he was able to impact many people's lives, either making them happy, proud or sad, I can't exactly write it into words how I feel about the trial 3 aftermath but I hope I was able to get the main point across. 

: Kokichi and Y/N actually becoming good friends, I was sold on the idea and was set on writing it out however rather early on I suddenly grew a really big dislike for people that made Kokichi look like this uwu gaybo of a character and whilst there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay (since I am apart of the community) it just really irritated me...so I made them rivals with slight compassion on the side if you squint, and unsurprisingly, some people weren't too happy with that, sorry ig.
