Y/N's Identity

This has been a HEAVILY debated subject and I have been asked numerous times what Y/N's sexuality is, and to that I answer...

It's the reader's decision.

Y/N is a complex character, some can argue that he's gay but some could argue that he's bisexual, whilst I have made it very obvious that Y/N isn't straight. Heck, I have confirmed that he is bisexual with a preference for men, however, my word isn't final, Y/N can be whatever the reader wants him to be, he could be trans or he could even be pan, I don't mind whatever, however one thing that I can confirm is that he isn't straight.

The only reason I never really confirmed confirmed it in the book was because I am heavily against labeling Y/N as just who he likes because he has done and overcome so much within the span of the killing game, who he likes is just that of many different quirks that he has, as someone who has been labeled several times for my identity I didn't want to write it in my book.

One more thing that I would like to discuss is if Y/N had any romantic feelings for anyone, I answer that with a simple word...

Yeah.

I made no attempt at hiding the fact that Y/N at the very least at some point during the killing game liked someone, however, the question is "when did it happen?" I made sure to mention this in the book at least once, if you looked closely, during the trial 4 investigation where Maki asked Y/N if he liked Kiyo, he responded with something like this (this isn't word for word I'm just going off by memory)

"To be completely honest, I don't know what I felt towards Kiyo, but all I know is that the happiness that I felt was probably the best moments of my life."

Y/N truly would never know if he loved Kiyo in a romantic sense or not since he hasn't really ever experienced a high amount of happiness or something as intense as romantic love before, so therefore he would have no way of distinguishing between the two. You see that Y/N said how he "Loved Kiyo dearly" And even called him his "beloved" though...I could easily make the argument that he just meant it in a friendly way, when you say that you love something, you don't always mean it in a romantic sense, right?

There is both evidence to prove that Y/N did love Kiyo and evidence that he only saw him as a friend, if someone were to ask me if I had the intention of making Y/N fall in love with Kiyo my answer would be. "I don't know." I'm not against them being romantically involved, however, I don't hate the idea of them just being friends.

Did Y/N ever love Shuichi in a romantic sense?

Okay, this is the real question, I will give you this scene from the Epilogue and I'll let you make your own judgments

"You're...the reason we're alive and I don't think I'll be able to thank you enough, this all...isn't how I imagined it to be, I don't want to shove my feelings onto you like this...especially since all the hell we had to endure, I didn't want to tell you anything...in case I died since it would've been cruel to do so...a-and...! I know that we may just be fictional characters...I really don't know how to tell you something like this...b-but..." I muttered, my face beginning to heat up and my lips beginning to quiver, whilst my face was beginning to grow hot...and my entire body felt cold to the touch, however...my left cheek slowly began to feel hot too... I looked at Shuichi for a second, awestruck. "D-Did you just..." It felt like my entire face was on fire, was I dreaming? Did he...really just do that? Shuichi looked back at me tenderly, his face a little pink.

Looking closely, it sounds awfully like a love confession? Right? Now, I mentioned in my earlier chapter that there was supposed to be a kiss scene however it was cut last second due to my fears of how people will react, however instead of cutting it completely, I made it more hidden, the scene is still present, however, it doesn't look like much if the reader isn't paying much attention.

There are still a lot of mysteries surrounding the book whether who Y/N loved romantically, what I've discussed here is only barely touching the surface, but even with what is written in the book, I will let the readers choose who Y/N loved in that sense.

But something that I all need you to understand is that it doesn't really matter, either way, DRV3 x Male reader is a story of Y/N, who is a troubled teen trying his best to survive a death game with 16 other people, in the story you can see him grow as a character and instead of only looking out for himself he slowly sees the people around him as less of "Peers" And more like "Friends" If anyone reads for the second time I would like you to pay extra close attention to Y/N's mannerisms by the time he gets to know Kiyo better, though...that is for another chapter.
