So the entire series is just a whole bunch of timeskips (which is why I created a timeline for myself and ya'll viewers (you'll be able to access it when the story is done on my "Stories I work on" page)) The reason why I say this is because the beginning (aka the first chapter) of this season is still set in the year the last season left off on, 2018. This is where the timeline stuff gets confusing because Jafar is supposed to turn 15 in 2018, but he was still 14 in the last season. That's because his birthday is later in the year, so the first chapter is just to show you all how much growth can happen in a few months between Masur, Sinbad and Jafar ig All I'm trying to say is that this timeline stuff is really complicated... all you need to know is that the first chapter of season 5 is set in late 2018 (December-ish) while the other chapters are in the middle of 2019.
