Shot By Both Sides

You pull back up at the school parking lot and get out to open Eddie's door. His arms full of his tapes and his lunchbox, "Wait here, please", he grins before rushing over to his van and dumping his stuff on the passenger side.

You look at your watch. It was so late now...but it was totally worth it. You smile at the floor as Eddie zooms back into view with the huge grin plastered on his face. He holds both of your hands and refuses to break eye contact, "So look, I'm just gonna put this out there. I really like you, and I'd like it if we did that again."

"What run from strange creatures and have a terrifying driving experience," you ask him.

He looks at you in pretend alarm. "What? No rally driving next time? Count me out."

You nudge his leg with your knee.

"Alright, I'm kidding," he says, grinning and putting your hands around his waist, holding them behind his back. He leans down and plants a kiss on your nose, "Maybe a tiny bit of speeding?" He says, possibly half joking.

You playfully roll your eyes at him, "You want me to get locked away? Is that it?"

"I mean, where are you getting locked up in this scenario? Prison, no! My room, yes?" He says, looking hopeful.

"And you were doing so well ..." You fake sigh.

You squint at him a little and look around. It's like he reads your mind, "Maybe that can be a topic for tomorrow. The only capacity I want to think of those under right now is the ride back they inspired" he bites his bottom lip and presses his body gently against your own.

"Ah, so it's going to have to be me, is it?" You say in realisation, whilst he's trying to look as innocent as he can.

Sighing a little and looking into those dilated pupils, "We should probably say Goodnight."

"No", he pouts ", Not already."

"Ok then", you agree and lean into his chest, squeezing his torso a little

"Hmmm, I see what you did there. Very sneaky." He says, amused, "Come on then", he complains, removing your hands from around himself, but keeps hold of one to guide you back to your driver's side door.

You say your goodbyes, handing back his vest, and despite Eddie making sure you are safely in your car first, you refuse to leave the parking lot until he's ready to go, and then you head your separate ways.

As you exit the car at school the next day, Joe and Dawn are waiting by the doors, "Hi", you smile widely at them as you walk towards your locker together.

The smile must be very telling, as Joe looks confused, but Dawn raises her eyebrows.

"Where were you at lunch yesterday?" She asks, "And last night, I called you a few times, but you were out?"

You look at the ground and then back up at them shyly, "At lunch, I was at the library, and last night I was on a date."

"Who with?" Joe asks.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you", but as it turns out, you don't have to tell them because as those words leave your lips, the doors burst open.

"Good moro', Hawkins High!" You hear Eddie yell, followed by the squeaky sound of his sneakers running towards you. He collides with you from the side, his arms grasping around you as he plants a huge smooch on the side of your face, "Good Moro My Lady, How dost thy fair on this most bless'd of days?" He says, plunging his face into your hair and inhaling deeply.
