"Okay...okay" Steve sighs, starting the car as he looks back over to me in the rear view mirror, assuming that You couldn't see him
What You couldn't see was max staring right at me, she looked concerned and nervous as she bounced her leg up and down
The ride to the school was short, yet if felt as if the car was trailing on for infinity, stuck in a short loop as we buzzed round and round again
As we reached the school, Steve and Dustin exited the car first, to make sure that no one was on the premises, you and max stayed behind leaning against the car doors
"Hey..." she spoke Turing towards you looking at you solemnly as she avoided eye contact "if something was wrong, you...you'd tell me wouldn't you?" Max sighs as she look up at you
You feel defeated as you realise how much you'd been avoiding max, you placed a hand on her shoulder before hugging her tight your chin propped onto her head as you rubbed her arm
"Of course max...of course" you shut your eyes as an attempt not to cry, or at least not let max hear you which your sure failed tremendously
"Hey guys..." dustin came around the corner, interrupting the moment as you and max pulled away awkwardly at his presence
Dustin slowly patted his thigh pockets as he snaps his fingers towards us with a forced smile "schools open"
