(Y/N)

It's been kind of weird around the house lately with Tristan in the house. I thought that we fixed everything and I thought that Florida would be better for us but...I guess not. You shrugged and leaned back.

"You literally called him every day to hear him breathe," Kristen said from across the kitchen.

"Kristen I told you that in CONFIDENCE."

.............

"Hey, Dunphy."

You sat across from him and opened your computer to complete an assignment.

"Thank God you're here. Can you help me with my homework?" He pleaded. His eyebrows were knitted together and he had chewed off most of the skin of his thumb.

"Yeah, let me finish this virtual lab and then I'll help you. What's it about?" The student logged into her Google Classroom account and clicked on the link her teacher sent.

"It's an essay. A response essay." Luke mumbled and continued biting his thumb.

"Aw buddy." (Y/n) grabbed his hand. "It's ok, there's no shame in being...less intelligent than the most."

"Shut up."

They laughed and agreed that after you finished your work you would help him structure his essay.

"Write a plan and look for literary devices and stuff. How many words does it have to be?"

"7000"

Roy's brown eyes met his and she blinked.

"When is this due?"

Silence.

"Lucas. When is it due?" Your tone was stern and Luke put his forehead on the table.

"11:59 pm."

(Y/n) groaned. "Seriously Dunphy?"

"Stop it you sound like my mom."

"Maybe you should call her and ask her to help you, sweetheart."

Luke grumbled and started writing a plan (and looking at other things) while (y/n) answered her questions and sketched different parts of the human heart.

"Where is everyone?" A husky voice said as he stepped into the kitchen. Thorpe poured himself a coffee and took a Danish and ate it silently, crumbs falling on his chest. "This is delicious. Did my man Julio make it?"

"He's not your man, Gil Jr." Luke rolled his eyes.

"I go by Tristan now, Dunphy. Maybe you should call your old man to help you with your homework." Tristan mocks and Dunphy sticks his tongue out.

"As a matter of fact, I will." Luke declares and calls his father. Voicemail.

"Did your dad even graduate from high school?" Tristan asks and Luke narrows his eyes.

"Did you even graduate from high school?" Luke retorts.

"I'm at the University of Florida. Do you know where that is, Lukey? Do you know what that is?" Tristan bent down to meet Luke's eye level and started pouting and using a baby voice.

"Tristan." You warned.

"Better watch your mouth, bud." Luke puffed his chest up and (y/n) groaned.

"You guys are children. Let's take a quick recess. Tristan, go for a walk. Luke, keep working sweetheart." She smiled and Tristan pursed his lips. The boys gave each other one final look before Thorpe went into the backyard and Luke continued his essay.
