Dear Diary,
Shawn and I arrived in Orlando today! We're almost at Universal! Now, I got to go before it's too late to get ready! Bye!
Love,
An excited girl who loves Harry Potter,
Skylar
I quickly stuffed my diary in the bag that I'm taking with me and grab a towel before leaping out of bed and sprinting to the only bathroom. Right as I get to the door, Shawn does to and we share one glance before jerking our hands to the knob and wrestling for victory. The victory being whoever gets the hot water in the shower first.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY SHAWN, I'M A GIRL AND I GET PRIORITY, THAT HOT WATER IS MINE!" I yell, letting out a strange battle cry before shoving my shoulder into his rib cage, trying to knock him off-balance. Being shorter than him has its advantages.
"HEY I'M JUST TRYING TO LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE GIRLS AND GUYS DONT HAVE PRIVILEGES AND WE'RE ALL EQUAL!" Shawn shoots back, nudging me with a much smaller force than I did to him.
"IS THAT ALL YOU GOT BIG BOY? HUH?" I harass, taking my hands of the knob but stepping in front of the door so he can't get in.
"Skylar, step away from the door. You're treading on dangerous waters by keeping me from my morning shower," he warns, but I can tell he's not completely serious by the small twitch in his lip. He's definitely trying not to smile.
"Oh, am I? Or are you?" Before he has a chance to retort I jerk my hands to his sides and tickle him like there's no tomorrow.
"SKYLAR!" He gasps collapsing to the floor instantly, "THAT'S DIRTY! YOU SHOULD KNOW TO PLAY FAIR."
I smirk, walking into the bathroom with ease and locking the door behind me, "Hey, playing dirty is how you win the game. If you look like you wouldn't play dirty, they don't expect when you do and it's ten times for efficient."
"That is a terrible thing to live by!" Shawn laughs, "but be quick and try not to use all the hot water."
"Okay! I'll try!" I listen for his footsteps before I turn on the shower, strip down and step into the still warming water. I finally accepted that I like Shawn just yesterday and now that I've realized it, I'm starting to notice all these little things that he does.
I noticed his acts of kindness and everything before but now I'm starting to notice cute little features on his face and adorable things he does when he's just being himself.
For instance, I love how he's so ticklish. Last night I brushed by him accidentally and he yelped and ran like a little girl because he though I was trying to tickle him. The look on his face was priceless and I don't think I've laughed that hard in years! I continue to get lost in though while I daydream about Shawn and startle myself when I knock my razor down.
I bend down to get it and think I've finally achieved my goal of getting it without cutting myself when I slip while trying to stand and instantly feel the sting on my wrist.
"SHIT!" I yelp, twisting my wrist so I can see the damage. A long, choppy cut lays down my inner wrist and is already gushing blood. I wince as I try to run it under the shower head but decide I should just get out.
"Is everything okay, Skylar?" Shawn asks, pounding on my door.
"Yes!" I yell out, "I'll be out in a second!" I ignore the stinging as I quickly slap on some shampoo and then rinse. Maybe, if I hadn't been daydreaming about Shawn I could of done this earlier, I scold myself. Ugh.
Once I'm finished, finally, after minutes of pain and dripping blood, I leap out of the shower and bring my hand to the sink so the blood doesn't get on anything. This is like my period, I think as I one handedly wrap my towel around myself. Once I'm covered up I look around the small bathroom, searching for some napkins or something.
Once I realize there's none I mentally face palm, this is so embarrassing!
"Hey Shawn!" I call, nervously, cracking open the door, "Could you get me a couple napkins and a bunch of band aids?"
"Sure, what for- Oh my gosh! What happened?" Shawn gushes, stepping into the small bathroom at the sight of blood.
"Long story short, razor accident," I smile, bearing the slight stinging and deciding not to explain my clumsiness when it comes to razors and showers.
"This looks bad," he worries, "maybe I should get Connor-"
"No! It's fine, it's just bleeding a lot because it was a razor cut but it's not that deep!" I interrupt, I'd rather not have anyone else see me in a short towel today.
"What, don't be ridiculous- oh," Shawn gulps, eyeing my extremely exposed body letting his eyes linger at little before he finally understands my point of view and runs out of the small bathroom to go get some band aids and napkins, blushing all the way.
What a strange kid, I think letting a smile creep over my lips before he returns. Usually I hate it when guys check me out, but this time it kind of boosts my confidence.
"Here you go, I'll help."
He wraps my arm softly in paper towels and directs me toward the toilet.
"Now sit here and I'll put the band aids on," he commands.
First he carefully wipes at my cut as I sit and then he cleans it by wetting another paper towel. I smile while I watch him place the band aids, completing forgetting about my cut. As long as Shawn's here, it doesn't really hurt.
"What are you staring at?" He smiles, looking up and meeting my gaze.
"You," I whisper, not even hiding the fact that I was admiring him.
His smile widens and a deep pink spreads over his cheeks while he looks down in cute embarrassment.
"There you go, all done," he says patting my thigh and standing up. I copy his movements and follow him out the bathroom.
"Thanks," I smile at him and he returns the gesture.
"You're welcome," he begins, grabbing a towel and clumsily stepping by me, "I'll take a shower now, and you can get ready in the back room-just lock the door behind you so Connor doesn't walk in by accident,"
"Okay," I nod grabbing my suitcase, still holding my towel on tightly and making my way to the end of the bus.
Even though I just sliced myself in the shower and was standing in front of Shawn practically naked, my smile won't leave. I definitely like this feeling.
