Naturally, Sophie was crushed to lose the closest thing she'd ever had to a boyfriend. But more than anything, she missed Keefe, her best friend. She missed hanging out with him, enduring his teasing, and even serving detentions with him. The next week consisted of more moping. Her friends attempted to help her, but came to no avail.

"Sophie," Biana called. "Earth to Sophie! Sophie Foster? Do we have a Sophie Foster here?"

"Huh?" Sophie groaned, turning around at Orientation to find the brown-haired, lipgloss-wearing beauty behind her.

"C'mon. Tuesdays are your favorite, remember?" Biana urged. "You love telepathy with my brother! I have no idea what you guys do in there, but you always walk into study hall glowing."

"I do not!"

"Whatever you say," Biana gave in, holding her arms out in peace. Was she really glowing after her private sessions with Fitz and Tiergan? "Hey, it doesn't have to be a bad thing. You're awesome at telepathy. You have a right to be happy."

Sophie was just leaving for study hall when Tiergan pulled her aside to his desk. "Fitz, go ahead, Sophie will catch up." Fitz caught her eyes and transmitted:

Update me later

Ok, she replied, unsure whether she'd want to. She hoped she wasn't in trouble. What if Alden had gotten busted?

"No worries, Sophie," Tiergan insisted. "Take a seat." Sophie sat back down in her usual desk, on Fitz's left. She leaned forward in anticipation.

"Is there something wrong?" She asked.

"I sure hope not," Tiergan replied. "I was going to ask you the same question. I'm worried about you Sophie. You haven't been yourself as of late, and it's affecting your telepathic performance. Your connection with Fitz is weakening. I just need to make sure you're keeping your priorities straight."

"My priorities?"

"Yes. You see, I am a fly on the wall here, I hear all the rumors and such going around, and I very much hope that no boy is keeping you from achieving your maximum telepathic potential. I do apologize for your... situation, but you must stop allowing it to affect your performance. I may not know much about this boy, but I know for sure that you've never let anything stop you from keeping your head up before. You must keep in mind that your power and strength is far more important to our world than any boy will ever be. Feel free to talk to me if you need anything, but I have a feeling you can work this one out on your own. You always do find a way." He gazed at Sophie with misty eyes. "Now, I don't want to make you late for study hall." He finished. Sophie took that as a cue to leave.

"Thank you, Tiergan." She smiled as he waved at her awkwardly. For once, Sophie walked out of her session glowing on her own terms.
