Sophie shuddered as she woke up in a cold sweat from yet another nightmare. She walked to the bathroom in a daze and took a steaming hot shower. No amount of heat could stop the shivers erupting from her body whenever she thought of all the unreal things that had happened to her over her time in the elvin world. She didn't think she'd ever get over the nightmares.
Shoving the thought to the back of her mind, she skipped downstairs, feeling a little better when she saw the familiar faces of her gorgeous adoptive parents, Grady and Edaline. "Mornin', Sophie." Edaline smiled. Sophie approached the table, finding some delicious elvin food awaiting her.
On the table, Edaline had placed a glass of some pinkish fog, a new beverage. "I thought we should try to mix it up every once in a while!" Edaline uttered, her voice confident and optimistic. "You never seem to eat enough."
"I'll give it a try," Sophie smiled, hopefully convincing Edaline that she was in fact fine. Nightmares may cause her to lose her appetite at times, but there was nothing else she could do. On her plate lay some pancake-looking things, which turned out to be delicious. Edaline had always been quite the cook.
Once Sophie had wrapped up, she headed to the Leapmaster. "Foxfire" she commanded. She waved goodbye to Grady and Edaline and headed for school, letting the warm light sweep her away as she prepared for a long day.
Sophie headed for her locker. She smiled upon arrival, pleasantly surprised to see Keefe waiting for her instead of the usual Dex.
"Hey, Foster, I thought you'd never get here!"
"What are you doing here?" Sophie asked, for some reason still smiling. She just couldn't wipe those dimples off her face. She blushed when Keefe seemed to notice.
"Well, I had to tell you this thing......." Keefe looked at the ground, either ashamed or embarrassed.
"Yeah?" Sophie asked.
"Well, when I say this, you can punch me in the stomach if you want to..."
"Keefe, what is it? Just say it."
"Well, Foster, you probably already know about my little crush on you--"
"Wait, what?"
"Um, was stating that I'm president of the Foster fan club not obvious enough for you?"
"We'll, I always thought you were joking."
"Clueless as always, huh? Well, I can feel what you feel around me. I know you like it when I tease you, even if you'll never admit it out loud. So I think we should be more than friends."
Woah. What? Did she really feel that around Keefe? He was an empath, and if she did, then might as well say...
"Okay," Sophie agreed. "Let's talk about it."
