"But I don't have an email."

"That's okay, use mine."

Twelve year old Lilith frowned slightly, picking at the corner of the Computer table as she watched her Mother log in to Skype.

"Thank you, Mummy." She spoke quickly and already distracted once she was able to enter the Skype ID, which had been scribbled onto a piece of paper beside her. After triple checking she'd entered it correctly, she pressed 'Video Call'.

"Remember your age and that we're only in the kitchen beside you," David's mother Karen told him before walking to her husband Matt in the other room.

"Alright!" David chirped. "Thank you, again!"

With a deep breath, David answered the call.

"Hey hey hey, what's up Lilith?" He said happily. "How are—"

"I think you're muted," Lilith deadpanned as David stopped to fumble around for how exactly to unmute himself, before triumphantly re-entering the frame excitedly.

"Hellooooo!" David reiterated. "How are—"

"Still muted," Lilith quipped, holding back a smile.

A few seconds of a confused David prompted her to add "I'm just teasing. What's up?"

"Well, this is...me...calling you...for...calling purposes!" David exclaimed happily. "For...reasons of which include...me wanting to talk to you! And...uh...some other third thing!"

Lilith bit her lip and smiled. "I called you," she added playfully, before slightly shifting the screen to see him better amidst brief screen glare. "How are things?"

"Things are...thing-ing," David remarked, briefly turning his head in the direction of the doorway his parents had disappeared through. "How are the things with you?"

"Things are thing-ing," she voiced back happily. "My parents are here too," she added.

"We heard everything," a cheerful female voice sounded. "I'm Madeline, it's great to hear from you, David! We've heard a lot about you!"

"Not everything, I hope!" David answered quickly before his eyes darted. "Nice to hear from you too!"

David could barely hear Madeline laugh before a second voice sounded from the background. "And I'm Robert! Nice to hear you!"

Lilith heard a soft Who is that guy? from Robert to Madeline before she shook her head and smiled once again. "Has anything exciting happened recently?"

"Well, there's...certainly a thing I did recently that everyone's trying to do social clean-up, but mostly it's just about getting through the days," David answered, his smile slightly yet distinctly faded. "What about on your end?"

"Progress in work from both parents, it seems," Lilith muttered, "or at least I hope so for how usually busy they are... but Mum taught me how to make blueberry muffins, which was fun... and we're making gingerbread next week."

"The only thing I've made food-wise that wasn't in a microwave is some soup after getting inspired by watching Ratatouille," David replied. "I've always been too paranoid to think I can use my hands adequately for something," he added. "That's probably why I had to imagine myself sword-fighting when-"

Suddenly, David stopped himself. "How are happenings with you?"

"You asked me that already," Lilith responded playfully with a raised eyebrow. "Any happenings, good or bad, are made better now that we're talking again," she answered sweetly, smiling as she rested her chin on her hand. "Have you been watching any movies lately?"

"Yes, actually! Mom and I saw this movie called 'Rango' in theaters, and- well, it remains the only movie where I somehow spilled all my popcorn during it, but it's probably my new favorite movie and I definitely wanna see it again!"

"He says that about every new movie he watches!" Matt playfully called while Karen giggled softly. "He'll say that about the next movie he eventually watches, too!"

"...Yeah, but...I'm really sure this time," David muttered, notably crestfallen despite his father's joking inflection.

Lilith's heart sank at seeing her friend drop into sadness so quickly, and was briefly taken aback by the sudden shift in the atmosphere of the conversation.

"Well...I'm sure we'll be able to watch it together, eventually!" Lilith finally chirped, at which David's face lit up and Lilith knew she'd follow that smile anywhere.

"What about you? Watching any movies lately?" David asked, noticeably happier again.

"I've been watching the Harry Potter movies," she said, twirling her hair in her finger.

"I haven't seen those, but my friend watched them all in a row because he got a huge overnight crush on Emma Watson," David added. "You and I could watch those movies together, too, if you like!"

Lilith felt her cheeks warm. "I'd love to. It's a date," she added with hopefully enough joking demeanor to keep David from realizing how seriously she meant that last part. "Whenever we can, we'll watch a lot of movies together..."

"...and we'll start with Rango!"
