----At lunch----Eddie's POV----
"Dungeons and dragons...at first regarded as a harmless game of make believe, now has both parents and psychologists concerned. Studies have linked violent behavior to the game, saying it promotes satanic worship, sacrifice, sodomy, suicide, and even," you pulled the magazine down from your face, looking at the Hellfire club around you, "murderrrr"
The boys all responded with their ooohs and aaahhhhs, laughing at the ridiculous article. Amidst your conversation, Dustin and Mike sat down at the table, looking a little more nervous than usual.
"Exactly, we're the freaks because we like to play a fantasty game," you said, slapping the table. Now you were really revved up, tired of being the outcast both in school and in society. Next thing you knew, you were on the table, sauntering across it past all the boys lunches while you gave your speech
"As long as you're into band, or science, or partieees, or a GAME WHERE YOU TOSS BALLS INTO LAUNDRY BASKETS" you yelled at the basketball team, catching y/n's glance in the process. She blushed at you while Jason, the captain of the basketball team, yelled something back at you. Unsure of what he said, you pulled your gaze away from y/n and stuck your tongue out at Jason while flashing devil horns with your hands. You turned your attention back to y/n, who was sitting at a table with Robin and Nancy Wheeler. She was still staring at you, smiling this time. God that smile, it drove you absolutely insane. Knowing you could make her smile like that made your heart almost beat out of your chest...but you knew her first day wasn't exactly the time to confess your love for her while you were standing on a table while everyone was watching you. It'd definitely scare her off...right?
You gave her a wink before turning around and sitting back down with the club, continuing your rant in the process.
"So uhhh, speaking of monsters," Dustin began, bringing you back to the real world, "um, Lucas has to do his 'balls in laundry baskets game,' so uhh he's not gonna make it to Hellfire tonight."
You glared at him, even more hatred of the basketball team growing under your skin as you listened to his sorry excuse of an explanation.
"I know there's no way we can beat your sadistic campaign without him...so me and Mike...we were talking...shootin' the shit...and we were thinking maybe we might..."
"Postpone!" Mike interjected, stopping Dustin from fumbling over his words any longer.
The table erupted in anger, each snapping a snarky comment at the boys over their idiotic request.
"Shut up!" You yelled in a shrill voice, throwing a pretzel at the freshmen. You looked over to y/n's table....she definitely heard your outburst since her and the other girls were giggling while looking over at you.
You gave Dustin and Mike a chance to explain themselves, kinda, before grabbing them by their collars and forcing them up from the table, telling them to find you a substitute for Lucas...or else. If there was one thing you weren't letting the basketball team take from you, it was your DnD campaign, and you sure as hell were gonna make sure those boys understood that.
----Dustin's POV----
At this point you were certain you had asked every person in school if they wanted to be Lucas' sub. Everyone in your classes, so basically all of the freshmen, said no. Everyone in the library said no. Everyone in the courtyard said no. Steve said no. Robin said no. Nancy said no.
By the time you met up with Mike after your free period after lunch, you both realized you were shit outta luck.
"So, Dusty Bun, any bright ideas" Mike asked playfully
