Chapter 5 - Family Video, Hellfire

"Well, seeing as your date with Eddie got scrapped, aaaand that you don't really know anyone else, what do you say you come to work with me and meet my friend Steve?" Robin asked you while you walked out of school after Eddie passed you with Jason.

"It wasn't a date Robin, he was probably just going to show me around town or something," you responded

"Oh yeah...yeah...absolutely. Definitely no making out or anything"

"Robin!"

"Okay okay I'll stop...for now. So, are you coming to work with me or not?"

"Yeah, sure, I've got nothing better to do"

Just as you said that, a nice car drove up and the driver honked its horn.

"Speak of the devil," Robin said

Robin opened the back door of the car for you and you slid in, looking up to face another gorgeous man. His hair was perfect and his smile was charming. He had a few freckles around his face and he was wearing a green vest with 'family video' printed on it and a nametag that said 'Steve' below it. Robin got in the front seat and slammed the door, sighing as she set her backpack down at her feet.

"Well Robin, are you going to tell me who exactly is sitting in my backseat?" He asked while he maintained eye contact with you

"Oh! This is my friend y/n, she just started here today and I was showing her around. She had a sexy date with Eddie Munson, but that got cancelled, so I recruited her to come to work with us."

Before you could respond, Steve turned to face Robin, his cheeks turning red, "Eddie Munson, as in Eddie 'the freak' Munson?" he asked her

"Okay slow down there," you said, "first of all, its nice to meet you Steve, and second of all it wasn't a date, Robin, it was just a....a"

"a.....date" she cut you off, turning to you with a smile

"It wasn't a date," you huffed, shrugging your shoulders to Steve

"Okay well, whatever it was, its nice to meet you too y/n" Steve said before he started driving

The short drive was filled with Robin telling you about Steve's reputation as Steve 'the hair' Harrington, and how he was the king of Hawkins High before he graduated last year. She told you about their time working at Scoops Ahoy together last summer, a story which garnered a lot of suspicious looks and laughs from the both of them...as if they weren't telling you the whole story...but you figured it was just their way of flirting and it made you smile.

The car stopped in front of family video and the three of you got out. Steve held the door for both of you as you walked in, gesturing you through with a quiet "after you ladies."

"Well this is it, this is our humble workplace," Robin said while throwing a vest on that matched Steve's

"Got any movie rec's y/n?" Steve asked, turning on a tv angled above the checkout desk in the middle of the store

"Uhh I don't know, Star Wars?" you replied

"Which one?" Robin asked, smirking at Steve 

"Empire Strikes Back" you didn't miss a beat

"As you wish" Steve replied before walking to a shelf where you assumed he was looking for your chosen film

A couple hours went by at family video, and you had gotten through most of Star Wars. The store was essentially dead, apart from a few couples and old dudes coming in every once in a while, so you three had spent your time talking about all the places you had lived and your favorite memories from them. You were in the middle of a story about some aliens you thought you saw in the Nevada desert when the phone rang, Steve answered.
