Phone and hot chocolate in hand, you make your way down the streets of Venice, Italy for some sightseeing. Your haven't really left your house since you finished highschool other than to run errands or for the occasional visit to family since you moved out as soon as you turned 18. You did college online and your working from home only allowed you to isolate yourself further but your online friends suggested you take a vacation to cool down and de-stress. So here you are in Venice sipping on your cocoa, truly enjoying yourself for the first time in a while. You're on route to a glass factory for a neat looking glass blowing demonstration you read about on a travel blog and are passing the kingdom facility. 'The streets here are unusually empty' you think to yourself just having passed a loud, lively part of Venice. 'Must hate the Kingdom too huh.' You make a turn into a more narrow path when you hear it. Gunfire. Explosions. Footsteps, coming in your direction.
In a frenzy, you dash towards cover as the sound of gunfire gets louder. After what felt like hours of searching you see a small bridge and underneath, a canal. 'This'll do' you thought as you hop over the railing, forming a bed of ice over the water for you to lay. 'I guess radiantite has its perks after all'. Through the cracks between the planks you see them. Radiants. One with powers of fire and the other... wind? She was too fast to get a good look but it looks like she needs help. 'Water cancels out fire right?' You think to yourself as you climb out of the canal prepared to begin pursuit.
You chase after them, "No plan? No problem" you mumble to yourself, out of breath, cursing yourself for not having exercised since since your late teens. You turn the corner and have a clear view of the radiants and use the ability you call geyser on the unsuspecting fire radiant. Your eyes turn blue and you punch the ground with your now water-like hands. You shout "Hey fire boy!" and immediately regret and cringe at your pathetic attempt at an insult. He turns around just in time to see the geyser before the one that would send him flying. Wide eyed and caught off guard he yells in surprise as he's launched up into the air, the wind radiant only stopping for a second to watch and chuckle before running off again. Not knowing what to do, you walk forwards watching as "fire boy" falls from the sky. Confused by your lack of weaponry and civilian clothing he weakly yells:
"Oi! Who the hell are you! You better back off before I-"
You cut him off "Why were you attacking that girl! What'd she do to you!"
"Look I don't have time for this, she's dangerous, besides she shot first!" He says while getting up.
"Why should I trust your word?"
"Because, uhm... I haven't shot you" he responds unsurely.
You realize that he's right. He had the large rifle in his hands this whole time and could've easily shot you. You watch as he collects himself and continues to run after the other armed radiant. Embarrassed and shocked, you sit on a nearby bench, scavenging your pockets for any snacks since you spilled your hot cocoa during all the commotion, flinching at the sound of gunfire and explosions in the distance. You take out your phone. 'Maybe there's something I could do in Milan' you think to yourself trying to ignore what just happened and find the travel blog that got you into this mess. You notice the lack of noise in the air and kind of hope the fire radiant was okay. It's sort of your fault that he may have failed his mission after all.
Some time passes and you get up, about to make your way to the hotel to book a bus ticket to Milan, when you hear an explosion, much louder than the previous. You look up and see the tip of a large black dome as the ground shakes, making you drop your phone and the bag of skittles you found in your pocket. As quickly as it formed, the outer shell retreated back to the center. Upset at the loss of your skittles you almost forgot about the two radiants. You realize that the fire radiant may still be out there and consider going after him. You stop yourself feeling as though you caused him enough problems so you decide to just go back to the hotel. Just as you began walking in the direction of the hotel, the ground began shaking and a large crack formed underneath your feet.
