Aboard the Jade Arrow

Luna was huddled in the corner of the cockpit, curled up in the foetal position.

She hadn't resisted when the two others returned to their senses and cuffed her to a handhold on the back bulkhead, away from any important consoles. She hated that she hadn't fought back, but the aching pit in her stomach, the numbness in her head, was too much, and even through all that, some part of her brain understood that she wasn't in a good space to fight back, and forgave her. She hated that part of her brain most of all.

Mara and Cora were huddled over the broken tracker, whispering furiously. Luna had tried listening to them, but she couldn't concentrate, couldn't think of anything but a kind face, sparkling blue eyes, and the glowing green blade that saved her life all those years ago. She remembered how it felt as the spirit of the long dead Sith Lord possessed her, and of how Luke had fought it and its bodyguard of Terantatek in the pale moonlight, saving her both in that moment, and after, when the maddened, enraged Terantatek had nearly destroyed her village. She owed him her life. She owed him everything.

He was gone.

He was gone, and the last hope for the galaxy was gone with him.

I am one with the Force, she thought, then gave up.

At some point, she realised that Cora had knelt in front of her. Cora hadn't said anything, just waited for Luna to acknowledge her. Luna thought about continuing to ignore her, but the thought of wallowing in her memories forced her to say something.

'Let's get this over with,' she said dully, looking Cora in the eye.

'Luna,' said Cora softly, 'I'm so sorry. I know how much he meant to you. I can't imagine-'

'What do you want?' Luna cut her off.

Cora bit her lip. 'I think it's time we had a talk.'

'So talk.'

'Um,' Cora hesitated. 'I was kinda hoping you'd take the lead,' she smiled sheepishly.

There was that fire again, roaring up to fill the empty spaces. 'How could you do this,' don'tsayitdon'tsayitdon'tsayit. To us. 'To me,' Fierfek.

'Everything I did, everything I've ever done,' said Cora, trying to keep her voice level, 'has been to protect my mom.'

'That's nice. I guess it doesn't matter how many people you betray.'

'I'm not a monster,' Cora began, but Luna cut her off.

'Tell that to your buddies in the First Order,' Luna growled, feeling herself on the edge. Luna frowned, but said nothing. 'You disgust me.'

Cora flinched at those words. Her shoulders sagged as she looked down at her hands. 'I'm sorry I hurt you,' she said softly.

Luna felt her eyes watering, and she stood, if only to put physical distance from her. Cora stood, too, but couldn't look her in the eye. Luna looked over her head to Mara, who was sat in the pilot's chair, watching them impassively.

'Just hurry this up so we can get back to work,' she drawled, almost bored.

That sent Luna over the edge. 'How dare you,' she yelled at her, at them both. 'You're trash, you're worse than trash, you're nothing but scum,' she turned to Luna. 'And you betrayed me. You betrayed people who thought you were their friend.'

'I didn't betray them,' Cora said hastily. 'I'm sorry I hurt them, but I never meant-'

'Oh just stop already,' yelled Luna. 'What, you think you can worm your way back in? Make everything okay? Wave a hand and suddenly we'll forget that you betrayed us? That you ran like a coward when I found out that you were a spy?'
