The knights sat quietly in Hunith's house, watching Arthur who sat staring out of the window, his chin resting on his palm, the candlelight making his golden hair glow gently. Kyra had finally calmed down and was sitting silently, staring at the flame on the candle in front of her, Leon was sat next to her, watching the side of her face as he leant back against the wall. He ran a hand over his face tiredly and tentatively put a hand on Kyra's back gently. She glanced at him out the corner of her eye and gave him a half smile, he smiled back softly and rubbed her back in circles gently as he looked over at Percival. They both jerked their head towards Arthur having a silent argument before Percival sighed. " Arthur, what are we going to do ?" he said quietly, Arthur stayed silent and kept looking out the window, " I have an idea" Kyra's voice broke the silence and turned everyone's eyes towards her. She leant back against Leon's shoulder, feeling the heat from his chest through the thin shirt he had on. "I think it's safe to assume that Gwen told... well she gave our plans away" she continued, Leon curled his arm around her and rested his chin on her head softly, breathing in her smell as she spoke. His heart soared at being able to hold her again, " well, what if we did something completely unexpected and got back into Camelot using the river ?" Arthur turned from the window and looked at Kyra suddenly, " the river " he said looking thoughtful.
"we can paddle up the river and get in through the sewers, not the best entrance I know, but definitely unexpected" Kyra said, looking back at Arthur and the others. Arthur nodded and seemed to perk up slightly as he pulled Percival and Elyan into a huddle and they discussed logistics in hushed tones. Kyra relaxed tiredly and laid her hand on Leon's thigh as he sighed and kissed the top of her head gently. "I love you, you know that right ?" He murmured, she chuckled softly, " I know" she replied closing her eyes with a small smile as she leant her head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. Leon glanced across the room and saw Ariella smile at him warmly as she watched them together, he smiled tiredly back and leant his chin on Kyra's head again.
" We will take the river" Arthur finally said out loud, as he turned back to the others. Gaius stirred from his seat by the fire and spoke up, "sire, even if you can get into the citadel, with what force do you plan to retake Camelot ?"
" I do not believe that Morgana has killed all of the knights, I think she still has them imprisoned in the cells or elsewhere in the citadel" Arthur said as he leant forward, " if we can free them, then we stand a chance of retaking the citadel from inside"
Gaius stood from his chair, "well, if you need an old man" he said with a smile, Arthur nodded to Gaius appreciatively.
" If any of you do not wish to join me in this folly, you may stay without stain on your character" Arthur continued, looking around the room. Everyone exchanged glances and smiled gently, "we're with you Arthur, always" Percival said with a nod, Gwaine grinned and clapped Elyan on the back, " you know our answer" he chuckled, Leon nodded to Arthur, "I have known you many years now, you wouldn't get far without me" he grinned, Kyra nodded and grinned wryly, "well someone's got to watch Gwaine", earning a laugh that eased the tension. Merlin looked at Ariella who shrugged with a smile before he spoke, "certainty of death, small chance of success... What are we waiting for?" he grinned. Arthur looked around at his friends and smiled fondly, "For the love of Camelot" the group all murmured their replies quietly.Elyan cleared his throat and spoke quietly, "what about Gwen, sire?", the room turned to look at Arthur subtly, Arthur glanced out the window, towards the outbuilding his wife was currently being held in. "She will remain here until she can be brought before the council" he answered quietly, a shadow passed over his face, "I know she is your sister Elyan, but she must be brought to justice, with a fair trial" the young king added before he stood from his chair and headed towards the door, he turned back and spoke over his shoulder, "Get some rest, it's going to be a long day" before he left the house into the darkness.
Everyone stood and walked to the door before going their separate ways, murmuring farewells as they split. Leon caught hold of Kyra's hand as she turned to walk back into the house, "you're only just recovered, are you sure it's wise for you to go back with us?" he asked quietly, Kyra looked up at him, "I'm fine, it's not like I haven't fought with injuries before" she answered, patting his hand and making to walk away, he pulled her back, "this is different" he said gently, she sighed and glanced at him from the corner of her eye, "That's exactly why I'm going, don't try and stop me, Leon, it won't end well" she took her hand back gently and closed the door behind her, leaving Leon in the dark.
