3 days later...
It was 3:30 am and a loud thump woke me up from my sleep. I took my softball bat in hand and headed downstairs. Step by step I walked down the stairs, checking my surroundings as to not wake up my parents, just in case it was just a dream. Just as I was on the last step of the stairs, I heard a noise coming from upstairs. I quietly walked up the stairs. When I got to the top I stopped, and listened with care. "Thump, Thump! Thump, Thump!"
As my terrible fear suspected, the noise was actually coming from the attic. I cautiously walked towards the end of the hall.
I couldn't see that well so I grabbed our emergency flashlight from the top of the bookshelf. I reached for the door and gently pulled it open and flashed the light into it as I ascended the ladder. Once inside the attic I stopped an the ladder's last step. I heard those thumps again. Quickly and swiftly I went inside and started to frantically search for the source of the noise. Five seconds later, the noise just came to a halt. I guess I was there for about two hours without hearing a sound. Later on, the sun rose, and I went to rescue the last hour of rest that I had left.
