"I've been to a supermarket many times... before school."

"And that's what? 18 years ago?"

"I don't know what makes you think I'm that old, but it's only around 10 years ago."

...

Bumping into someone you do not wish to meet outside of work is probably the worst thing that could ever happen.

It was the last day of the training sessions this week, and coincidentally, the first day of the month. The session ended a while ago, so I went on my monthly shopping spree. Unfortunately, a familiar face appeared while I was walking through the dairy aisle. What is he doing in a muggle supermarket? I tried to pretend that I did not see him and turned back to leave.

"Ms. L/n?" a voice called after me from behind.

Shit. Should've been quicker.

I turned and faked a surprise expression, and followed it up with a forced smile, "Mr. Potter."

He smiled awkwardly, as I felt his gaze move to the half-full trolley behind me.

"Do you–" I squinted my eyes, rethinking whether or not I should ask this, "shop here?"

He held up a carton of milk I did not notice earlier, and nodded.

"Regularly?" the one-word question slipped through my lips. There was definitely an unpleasant tone to it, but I can't hide the fact that I do not have any desire whatsoever to meet him here ever again. I tried to cover it up with an explanation that came out jumpier than I'd like it to be, "Sorry. I was– uh– I never see you around here, so it's a bit surprising to find you at this specific muggle supermarket."

He chuckled softly, "It's my first time here actually, but I just moved to a place nearby, so I'll most likely shop here regularly."

Did he just— Whatever. I managed to resist the urge to roll my eyes, "I see. I suppose I'll see you around then."

"Right," he nodded, "Oh! Almost forgot. Do you know where I can get fruits here?"

"Aisle 4," I said, but he looked a bit lost, "You do know what an ai— Is this your first time going to a supermarket?"

"No," he answered a bit too quickly, "I've been to a supermarket many times... before school."

"And that's what? 18 years ago?"

He opened his mouth to say something but closed it again, though the second time he did open it, he got something out, "I don't know what makes you think I'm that old, but it's only around 10 years ago."

"My bad," I apologised, before deciding that he does in fact need assistance, "You know what, just follow me."

"Thanks," Mr. Potter said to me as we walked away from the vegetable stalls, "You've got everything you need as well?"
