Song- Everything has changed (Taylor's version) by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.
***Jeremiah's pov***
Last night was one hell of a night. With Georgia's breakup, Belly's and Taylor's fight. I sat in the kitchen drinking my hangover cure. I looked up and saw Peach come in. "Morning," I said. She looked up at my voice and smiled. "Good morning Jere. What are you doing up so early?" She asks. "Couldn't sleep much," I answer. "Me too." She slides into the chair next to mine. "What's that?" She points at the glass. "Hangover cure," I answer. She nods before laying her head on the counter.
"Morning." Belly walks in from the front. "Good morning. Belly. you want one?" I ask her. She grabs the cereal box and stuffs her mouth with it. "I take it you and Tay-Tay haven't made up," I ask and Georgia perks up. "What's wrong?" She asks. "Nope. We haven't talked since last night." Belly shakes her head. "Belly and Taylor had a fight at Nicole's party. I only know that much." I inform Georgia. "Are you ok? Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I was crying about myself all night yesterday and didn't know you and Taylor were fighting." Georgia takes Belly's hand in hers and squeezes it.
"When does she leave?" I ask. "In a couple of hours. She's upstairs, packing." Belly says. "Hey, do you guys wanna go on a muffin run? I want to get out of the house." Belly asks turning the bowl in front of her. "I'll drive," Georgia says pulling Joe's car keys out.
Georgia hurries to the car and starts the engine. I sit in the passenger side while Belly occupies the backseat. Georgia drives the jeep with too much focus. "Hey, you good?" I tap her shoulder gently, and she flinches before smiling at me. "Yes." She replies.
I steal glances now and then at her. How could someone with such a beautiful soul, go through so much terror. Georgia was one of my first best friends. I loved how she would always check up on me every day when it wasn't summer, we couldn't talk much but she'd send me memes or voice notes saying good morning or good night. It was usually one or the other but it was something to me. I've had a crush on her since we were 8.

Back in our 8th summer here in cousins. I had snuck out of the house to go on a walk down the beach. I found her there alone. "Peach." I ran and hugged her. "Jere bear." She ran towards me when she saw me. "What are you doing here?" She asked taking my hand in hers. "I couldn't sleep. You?" I asked looking up at her, she was taller than I was back then. The moonlight was strong enough to shine on her pretty face. "Let's walk." She suggests, pulling my hand. I follow her by the coastline. The serene night, the crashing waves and amazing company, what more could I ask for.
"Hey, Jere bear." She stops looking into the deep void. "Yes, Peach?" I look at her. "You're my best friend, let's promise to always stay best friends and tell each other all our secrets and never to hide whatever we are thinking at all like never to lie to each other." She stops talking abruptly. She looks at me intently. Her eyes, wide with excitement. "I promise Peach." I smile at her.
Sometime later Connie came running toward us. "What are you two doing here? Norah's searching for you everywhere." Connie shouts at Peach. "We were just walking here." I defend her. "Get back to the house and go to Jere's room and sleep. I'll tell Norah that I found you there." Connie suggests. "Ok," Peach says taking my hand in hers and running towards the house. We snuck in through the back door and tip-toed our way to my room. We lay in the bed far away from each other. The door opened and Connie smiled at us. "Found her." He shouted. Footsteps came running our way. "Oh, Georgia, I was so scared." Norah hugged her. "Mom... I was with Jere bear, I'm safe with him, don't worry." Georgia acts like she was just woken up from deep sleep.
'I'm safe with him.' She felt safe with me.
The next morning after our little escapade, Georgia woke me up excitedly. "Jere bear, Jere bear," She shook me. "Peach, let me sleep." I pull the comforter over me. She crawls under it and then over me. She held my hands out, "Mom's getting me a dog." She smiles excitedly. "Wait what?" I look awake. "I'm getting a dog." She giggles falling beside me on the bed. "I'm going to name it Stitch, after Lilo and Stitch. Oh, I'm so excited. It's going to be so cool." She claps her hand. "When did you find out?" I ask. "Oh, I woke up and went down to meet mom and she told me I'm getting a dog as a birthday gift. I ran here right after to tell you. remember our promise?" She looks eager. "Yes.. yes. I'm so happy for you." I grab her and hug her.

"Remember our promise?" I whisper, turning towards Georgia. "Did you say something?" Belly asks from the back seat. "Not to you, her. Remember our promise?" I lean forward to look at her. " 'to always stay best friends and tell each other all our secrets and never to hide whatever we are thinking at all like never to lie to each other.' " I repeat each word she said that night. She hits the brake in front of the muffin shop. "Belly go grab those muffins," I say, looking at Georgia. Georgia opens her door but I pull her back in. "Belly go alone, I wanna talk to Peach." I look out and nod at Belly, She tilts her head and smirks at Georgia. "Have fun." She runs in.
"What do you want to talk Jeremiah?" She asks sitting straight.
"We used to be best friends," I say. "We still are." She corrects me. "I wish we were more," I say and as if I saw her smile. "What?" She turns to look at me with a poker face. "I want to be more than friends with you. Listen I know, you don't trust anyone. You were really young when you dated steven, and thoughts can be impulsive at that age, I meant to ask you out after you two broke up but you had sworn off dating for a while, the next summer and the summer after that, you and Belly were basically inseparable. I couldn't just do it on a text it had to be during the summers, because you love summers and I wanted you to remember us as a summer relationship, not a fling or a date, a relationship that could last longer. I promised myself to tell you this summer but then you text me that night, you have a boyfriend and I was heartbroken. I had waited too long to tell you how I feel, what I was thinking. I don't want to wait any more. I want to be with you, I want to hold your hand, kiss your face and tell you how much I like you at every chance I get. I know this is not like a perfect proposal or something but When it's right it's right." I smile. I look up to see her face beaming.
"You have no idea, how much I've liked you since I was 10. This is amazing. Oh my god, Jeremiah." She pulls me in a hug. "I really like you and we can try ok, but right now may not be the best time, like I just got out of a trashy relationship yesterday-" She starts explaining. "We don't have to start dating right away. We could take things slow and steady... how about that?" I ask. "I like the idea." She smiles. "Maybe we could keep this to ourselves and not tell anyone." She requests. "Your wish is my command," I say and she grabs me in for a quick kiss.
Belly returns to the car in a few minutes with a big box of muffins. "Done talking?" She asks me, Georgia nods. She smiles a little before turning to look at Belly happily. She doesnt say a word just smiles at her. Which looked really weird.
"Wait what? Jeremiah, you did it? You sneaky little bastard. You finally asked her out. Oh, you must be dying with happiness. Oh, I'm so happy for you." Belly pulls Georgia into a hug and then pulls me in. "Wait how? I take it Belly knew of your crush on me," I smirk. "I knew of your crush on her too." Belly laughed in my face.
