Song- Read your mind by sabrina carpenter

I sat staring at Jeremiah laying by the Jacuzzi from the couch. He was deep in thoughts.  I couldn't think clearly as the noise in the kitchen disturbed me.

While we were at the dance rehearsals and Beck, Laurel and Mom got high on edibles. I loved it when mom was so airheaded.

The mothers were gathered round the kitchen counter and had all kinds of food splattered on it. I looked up to see Beck and Laurel get more food out of the pantry and fridge. So i decided to intervene and stop before there was a shortage in the house.

I walked towards them. "Laurel, Beck and Mom off the counter. I have to clean this up." I instruct. All three pout when they turn to look at us. "Ok mom!!" Mine taunts me. "Norah!!" I shout at her, funnily. "Beck, keep the honey down. Laurel, that's an awful lot of gummy bear. Norah!! I need you to to stand still. Let me clean you up ok?" I say pulling her to the sink. I grab a clean towel and wet it before wiling mom's sticky hands.

"Beck, you next hon." I wave. I wet the palm of my hand and clean Becks face. "Laurel, you are old enough? Or do you want me to clean you too?" I ask cutely. "Mom clean me." she says. " Ok come here then my little honey bunny." I baby talk.

After cleaning Laurel, I find mom back on the counter eating chips straight out of the packet. "Norah!!" I whine. Jeremiah and Belly stood in the corner looking over at the mess.

She gave me an apologetic look. "We should make Lasagna." Laurel suggests. "Yes I love Lasagna." Mom practically yelled beside me. "Oh no!! I have to go shopping." Beck cries out from the back. "Hey hey!! How about I make the lasagna? That way it'll be edible to everybody, won't it?" I ask. "Edible." Beck giggles, pulling out a packet from her dress. "I have edibles." She dances around with it.

"That has no business in your hand young lady. Hand it over and go sit on the chair and think about what you've done." I act out. Beck pouts handing me the packet. I stuff it in my pocket and start cleaning. Mom leans on the counter, dipping frozen peas in jam and eating it.

"Oh hey!! Our beautiful babies." Beck and Laurel find Jeremiah and Belly in the corner laughing at them. "Meet your grandmother. She's here." Laurel pulls the two in front of me.

"Laurel!! I'm not their grandmother. I'm Norah's very young and beautiful daughter." I cry out in complaint.

"I have a young and beautiful daughter?" Mom turns to look at us. "You come with me, I got to get you in good lighting." Beck pulls Jeremiah away.

"Mom you need to rest. You're high." I announce. "Hey Laurel!! I'm high!!" She extends her hand towards her best friend. Belly muffles her laughter as Beck and Jeremiah leave us in a mess.

***Jeremiah's pov***

Mom sat by the canvas while I stood with the stick. A leaf tiara round my head. She wanted to paint me as Hermes.

"Oh, oh, my beautiful boy, the lights so good. Can you feel the light?" She questions. "Can you feel the softness?" She adds on. I laugh at her mood.

"Oh my god, I just want to dance with you." She gets up. "Dance with me? " She questions. I answer her by throwing away the stick and extending my hand. She grabs it and sways a little.

"Come here, have a seat." She pulls him to the concrete. "How's your summer my love? You happy?" She questions.  "Yeah.. Yeah. " I look away, lying to her.

"I feel a bit different this summer though." I add to my lie. "Summers the same. We're the one's who are changing. Except you. I don't want you to ever change. " She shuffles my hair then kisses me on the forehead.

Georgia's laughter echoes from the inside. "I love to hear her laugh. It's calming. She's perfect... For you." Mom says softly. "All right enough with the talks, Mom-"

"Beck!! I've got something for you!!" Georgia comes out holding something. "What is it?" Mom claps her hand excitedly. "Water. I want you to drink water, for me please." She hands mom the glass and stares at her until she finishes it. "Good girl Beck. What would you like to eat? I'll cook today." She smiles at mom, completely ignoring my presence. She stands up straight as mom thinks.

"I'm going to see the art." I say getting away from them. I didn't take my eyes of them as I made my way to the canvas. Georgia and Mom were really close and I loved it was my mom she was close with. The two shared an unbreakable bond. Mom loved Georgia like her own daughter and Georgia loved mom, more than her own mother. I smiled as Georgia hugged mom and then turned to leave.

"Are we still fighting?" She questions as she comes near me. I avert my eyes to the painting which leaves me dumbstruck. "What do you guys think? I think it's my best work." Mom speaks from behind Georgia.

Peach turns to examine it and stops before she could laugh out. "Oh Belly needs to see this." She points at the painting. "Belly " I shouted at the top of my lungs.

She came running out along with the other two mothers. "It's um. " Belly tries to phrase our thoughts.

"If picasso and Jackson Pollock had a baby." Norah spoke. Laurel laughed at her comparison. Beck got up and sat on her chair again. "What!! This is terrible." She cringes at her drawing. "This is so bad." Laurel laughs.

"This is why old people should not do drugs." Jeremiah speaks, earning and outrage by 3 mothers.

After the mom's left for a walk on the beach, I started preparing for the evening dinner. Joe was back home and on a call with Sarah. Belly and Conrad were out talking about something. Jeremiah sat in front of me at the counter, scrolling thought the phone.

I chopped vegetables for the lasagna. The ladies really wanted to have some so they were going to get some. I chopped continuously, staring at Jeremiah, ehi showed absolutely no interest in the company.

"Ouch!!" I cry, having accidently cut my finger. I throw the knife away and clutch my hand. "Are you ok?" Jeremiah quickly rushed behind the counter. I look up at him, then get back to chopping. "So you do care what happens to me, yet you won't talk to me." I roll my eyes. "That was so not cool Georgia. " Jeremiah shouts at me. "Dude!! That's my sister." Joe buts in from the phone call. "Sarah says hi." He lushes the phone my direction. "Hey Sarah!! I would have loved to talk but the dinners on me tonight so have to go. Bye." I push back the phone.

Joe leaves the two of us alone again and this time I speak. "You are allowed to be mad ok. I get it. It was a shitty thing for me to do. The whole sex with Conrad, we weren't in a committed relationship Jeremiah. I am free to do anything I want to. You can't make me feel shitty for things when we aren't in a relationship. That's just toxic." I stomp.

"You knew I liked you. I thought you liked me too. Then you go ahead and have sex with my brother. Georgia its very confusing." He says. "It was meaningless sex. It was absolutely nothing. It didn't mean anything. I'm not in love with Conrad, Jeremiah. I'm in love with you. I have been since I was 10 . You didn't live me then because I was pretty and had braces or was ugly. You didn't go through the jealousy of seeing you with other girls every summer. You didn't go through every year, every day thinking about me like I did about you. So dont make me feel shitty for something, I didn't know I wanted to do and just happened." I throw the knife down and storm away into my bedroom.

A gentle knock and the door opening sound, makes me look back. "I broke up with Cam... And Conrad and I we had a fight." Belly says entering. "I fought with Jeremiah too." I tell her.
