The better part of the world

CHAPTER 6

Wanda woke up just as the sun rose,she felt that someone was lying on top of her and saw Natasha who was still deeply asleep.

The brunette smiled at the sight and wanted to continue to sleep because there was no point in getting up so early, but she knew that only a cup of tea would help her fall asleep now.

After a moment's thought, however, she got up from the bed gently so as not to wake up the other girl and headed towards the kitchen.

"Good morning Wanda, what are you doing here so early?"

Not only Wanda was having trouble sleeping today, Steve has also been awake since the early morning.

"Mornin' Steve ." Wanda said sleepily. "Well my brain apparently wanted to start the day early, but I'm still going to go to bed for a little bit."

They both laughed a little at the brunette's answer."And what are you doing here at 5 am?" Wanda asked him after a quick glance at the clock.

"A call from Fury woke me up and then somehow I couldn't sleep so I went downstairs to work out for a while." He said with a little hoarse voice.

Wanda was always surprised by how, after 70 years of sleep, Rogers was tired for over half the time anyway, she often liked to tease him because of this, but now she was too tired for this and only wanted to return to Nat.

"Oh that sucks ... wait what Nick wanted from you in the middle of the night?" Wanda looked at the Captain with a confused expression.

"He just said there was some threat from an unknown environment and within the next few weeks we might have another mission and after that he basically hung up." Steve answered Wanda's question as she finished making herself tea.

"You should tell the rest about it.Okay, I'm going back upstairs." Wanda was about to leave the kitchen but Steve stopped her.

"Wait!Can I ask you a question?"

"Yeah,go ahead."

"How's Nat?I haven't spoken to her in a while."

Wanda knew that Fury told Steve about yesterday's situation with Maria, but the man was probably waiting for one of the girls to tell him herself.

"It is getting better and better, yesterday we had a tiny crisis but we found a perfect solution."

"You mean the crisis resolved by your becoming Nat's caregiver?I've heard about it and congratulations to both of you, I believe this is the best decision that could be made." He smiled and hugged Wanda lightly,the young woman was about to say something, but she heard a scream coming from upstairs.

She immediately knew that it was Natasha, so not wasting a second longer, she walked towards the stairs, just saying quickly 'I need to go to her Steve' before she practically ran to her room.

As soon as she entered the room and saw Nat, she immediately remembered the first time when she went to the redhead's room in the middle of the night when the girl cried after a nightmare,only this time, instead of pretending that nothing happend and driving her out of the room, the girl was crying and stretching out one hand towards the brunette.

Wanda quickly came to the bed and took the girl's hand that was in her mouth and grabbed gently  her other hand, then sat down next to her and pulled her onto her lap.Nat only started to cry harder and this time Wanda knew why, the redhead was so scared of her nightmare that she had an accident.

Maximoff wanted to get the girl out of the wet clothes as soon as possible, but first she had to somehow calm her down and convince her that nothing bad happened.
