The Avengers were back in the quinjet flying back to New York together. Thor,Pietro ,Bruce, Clint,Vision and Maria were sitting together chatting and enjoying the win watching Steve and Tony arguing over who should get behind the wheel now, while Wanda sat with Nat in a separate room to keep the sleeping girl calm but also to be alone with her for a while.
Two hours have passed and the brunette still hasn't moved from the place where she sat, still holding Nat in her arms and looking at the young Russian, from time to time running her hand over the warm cheeks.Maybe it was the constant effects of the painkillers or the fatigue from the fight and the emotions after it but Nat was still sleeping soundly and it seemed like she wasn't about to wake up in another hour or two.
Wanda didn't complain, she also wanted to lie down for a moment or two, but her thoughts wouldn't allow it.
She was still amazed and happy about what Natasha called her.Being a mom was all she ever wanted but she was afraid that the girl regretted calling her mama or that she really didn't mean it.Somewhere inside she knew that she's just overthinking and her thoughts are irrational but she can't shake it off until she talks to Nat about it.
"Hi,you okay?" She was snapped out of her thoughts by the opening of the door and Maria's whisper.
"Yeah, we're just sitting in here."
"You scared us all for a moment when you weren't on the helicarrier, especially the little redhead in your arms." Maria said looking at Wanda and sitting down next to her.
"Vision came for me at the last minute, and if it wasn't for him, it would have ended very differently...I don't even want to think about it." Wanda said sadly looking down at the sleeping Nat.She didn't want to know how else it could all have ended, she preferred to enjoy the fact that in a few hours they would be home again and everything would be back to normal.
"Good, because I don't want to think about it either.I'm just glad you're here." Maria put her hand on Wanda's shoulder, squeezing it slightly and smiling at the brunette who smiled back after a while. "So you are oficially a mama huh?"Maria asked, trying to lighten the mood.
"You think she really means it?" Wanda asked in a dubious voice.
"Of course she does,Tasha wouldn't say that if she didn't mean it."
"But...I don't know sometimes I feel like she deserves someone better."
"Stop thinking that, you should've seen how Natasha just broke down when she thought you died...this girl never had anyone who cared about her,you are the first person in her life with whom she feels safe enough to be herself. She really loves you Wanda."
Maria's words were sad but true, Nat had never had anyone who looked at her otherwise as a deadly weapon before.Wanda was more than happy knowing that Natasha trusted her enough to be a part of her life and finally felt more connected to her.
"You're right, I need to stop worrying unnecessarily." Wanda said smiling at the dark-haired girl.
"Of course I'm right, I'm always right." Maria said, laughing softly after Wanda lightly pushed her for being 'conceited'. "Okay okay how about I hold Tasha while you go change into something more comfortable than the clothes you used to kill robots in?" Hill said after a while noticing that both of them were still in clothes from the fight a few hours ago.
"It's okay, you don't have to and besides, I bet the minute I leave the little troublemaker is gonna wake up."
Wanda would love to finally get out of these dirty clothes, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to leave Nat even for a moment right now.
