Today is my first day at the After School thingy. Alec's house is gigantic!

"Hey," Alec's mom gives me an extra sweet smile. "you must be Isabelle. Alec told me so much about you."

I nod, and smile back. "He did?" I look at Alec, who shrugs.

She shakes hands with me. "I'm Annalisa."

We spend the whole afternoon studying, and doing my homework. For a while Alec stays there, doing his own homework, but once he's done he leaves us and goes to play some video games of his.

By the end of the day, I'm surprised I actually got the concept, and I was able to solve correctly a few exercises.

Annalisa is such a nice woman, and apparently she was a teacher once, but she dropped it to be a better mom.

I smile when her husband comes back, and she gives him a kiss on the cheek.

I'm just so jealous of perfect families. I just wish I had one too.

*

"Hey dad!" I hug him as I come back home.

"Hey sweetie," he smiles "how was it?"

"Very good! Alec's mom is very sweet."

He sighs.

"Mom isn't home," I point out "right?"

He just nods.

I don't know what the hell got into that woman.

She's never been the best mom, but at least she was always home... I guess.

We end up ordering a pizza, and I definitely can't argue with that. Pizza is better than anything mom could ever cook anyway.

"So," dad says, grabbing a slice of pizza "you ready for the test?"

I take a deep breath. "Uh, I guess."

If I guess means "Definitely not." In another world then yeah, of course.

"Don't worry if this one doesn't go that well, I'm sure you'll be able to improve."

"I hope so."

*

"You ready?" Anastasia asks me, as we sit down.

"Nope." I chuckle nervously.

"Me either."

"Oh shush, you always get 8 or 9!"

She rolls her eyes. At least she doesn't argue with that. Our professor passes by with our tests. I mouth at her a 'good luck' and she does the same, smiling.

I write my name, and stare at the paper for a while, before I started writing.

*

"It.was.teeeeerrible!!" I face palm, and Anastasia chuckles.

"I'm sure it wasn't that bad."

I roll my eyes, and sigh. "Speak for yourself."

"I know exactly what you need." She grins "Ice-creaaaaaam!!"

"Mhkay..." I give in, not being able to resist ice-cream.

We reach the seaside, and I decide to get a Nutella and Cookies ice cream, while Anastasia gets one with Stracciatella (which is cream and pieces of chocolate) and mint.

We chat for a while, while eating our ice creams.

"You never told me who you like." I randomly point out, and her cheeks turn red.

"I - uh - n-no one..." She blushes even more, and looks away.

"Aw, okay." I smile. She's probably lying, but if she doesn't want to tell me, then it's okay.

Once we finished with the ice cream, we have a walk on the sea side, and I figure I hadn't had a girl time like this one since ages. Or something that felt like ages.

As I get in the apartment, I stop in front of my door, before knocking. I know my grade will be terrible, but I don't know if I should tell my parents.

Maybe only dad.

*

"Well," dad says, after I told him I think I failed "I'm sure it'll still be better than 4. If it is, that's good. It means you're improving. You know, it's not something that happens like that," he snaps his fingers "it takes time."

He smiles, and I hug him. I'm happy this is how he thinks, but I'm not sure mom is of the same opinion.

"Thanks." I say, and go back to my room. I do my homework, except fir Maths, and change into some shorts before leaving for Alec's house.

I thought I was going to disappoint Alec's mother, but she said basically the same thing dad said.

I just have to take more than 4.

I guess I can do that...

After studying together, I stay for a while with Alec, chatting, and then we leave for horse riding.

He rides, but I don't, and decide just to make Rose jump and gallop for a while, without saddle and just with the bridle in order to make her do what I want.

Without me on top of her, she jumps much more than we ever did, or maybe it's just that she's improving.

We only do half an hour, then I let her eat some grass while I wait for Alec.

I can see him from here jumping something around 1,15 m, and I look at Rose.

"One day," I say, patting her shoulder "we'll be able to do that too."

Hopefully.
