"These are fascinating." Diluc remarked as he held a shard to the light. The black fireproof gloves he always wore protected his hands so holding one of the meteorite chunks didn't seem to affect him.
You and Diluc decided to quickly eat lunch before trying anything new. You both were now at the same place you had experimented in just some time before. It was late afternoon.
"They're even more intricate than I would have imagined. It's one thing having somebody describe it for you, but another thing entirely seeing one for yourself. Truly amazing," he marvelled, before placing it down on the ground.
He summoned his own claymore. You remembered the last time you had tried to wield it properly - it was incredibly heavy and one that he forged himself to suit his fighting style.
The slanted end of the claymore was sure to pack a punch. The crimson streaks against the black base matched the aesthetic of Diluc's outfit. The blade itself was well cared for, polished and sharpened.
"Let's give this a go, shall we?" Diluc swung his claymore effortlessly into the ground.
The sound of the collision between claymore and meteorite was harsh.
"Huh...how interesting," Diluc said as he bent down to pick up the meteorite.
He stood up and unfurled his palm to reveal an undamaged shard. There were no scratches, nothing. It remained spotless.
"Seems like not even my saviour could save his damsel in distress," you smirked.
Diluc was quiet. "Describe these meteorites and what you know about them so far. In detail."
"They almost lure you into touching them - I don't know what it was but it happened to me too. It was like falling into a trance. They send you into a sleep if you touch them - that you already know - and we don't know how to cure it."
Diluc's nodding prompted you to continue. "This Inazuman man I teamed up with said visions resonate with the elemental energy in them, which is why mine emitted light."
"Hold on. Your vision resonated with the meteorite shards because they store large quantities of elemental energy?"
"That's right."
"And what about this 'Inazuman man' that you've teamed up with? I've not heard of any newcomers for a long time." Diluc's brow furrowed in suspicion.
"He asked me to team up with him since we were looking into the same things. It's probably better if two people work on it than just the one," you explained hastily.
Diluc exhaled, drawing out a long sigh. "Just...be careful, Y/N." He sounded like he wanted to say more but decided against it.
"I will. Don't worry about me." You gave Diluc a reassuring grin.
"Back to the matter at hand. If the shards really do contain elemental energy, they should be highly reactive. What if we created some elemental reactions and tried to break them there?"
"Alright. Let's run through the transformative reactions, then."
"The first one that comes to mind is overloaded. Electrocharged, and swirl..." Diluc started.
"....Superconduct and shattered." You finished.
"I don't see how we can apply different elements to the meteorite itself." Diluc stated.
"Maybe it can absorb elements? Just like how Anemo would."
"Only one way to find out," you said, gesturing to the meteorite, still in Diluc's palm.
