Months later. || Chapter 7.

5 months later

Eleven's POV

The secret place I was talking about before, is located somewhere in California. Five months ago, I brought Max alongside me to the secret place I brought her to when she was still conscious but then I eventually admitted her to a local hospital in California because I figured that I can't deal with a hospital patient. It may even get Max killed under my hands because of my clumsiness.

I haven't been home since five months ago so I bet the entire Hawkins is looking for me now because I have always been a popular figure around the town for dating 'multi-billionaire' Mike Wheeler.

It is six in the morning now and I just woke up. Every morning I will prepare eggos for breakfast and then rush to the hospital to check on Max, then at two in the morning, I would return home. This routine has already been repeated for months and it will keep repeating until the day Max wakes up. I have even cut off my phone data so that no one can contact me and Max and I could have our peace and freedom in this secret hideout.

After I brushed my teeth and got dressed, I dashed out of my house and towards my car and drove to the usual place — the hospital.

When I reached the hospital, the nurse at the counter greeted me as usual.

"Good morning Ms. Hopper, coming here early again as usual?" The nurse greeted.

"Yep."

"Alright here is your permit." The nurse smiled and passed me the permit paper and then I went to Max's ward.

When I went into the ward, Max was smiling at me peacefully.

Holy shit. What? Am I being delusional again or having another illusion as usual?

Then I slapped myself and told myself to get out of the illusion but then when I looked at Max's bed again, she was still smiling but even widely now.

I am not dreaming or having another illusion.

"Max? Are you awake?" I asked unbelievably.

"Of course, El. I'm real." Max replied with a chuckle and tears just kept flowing out of my eyes uncontrollably and ran towards Max immediately and hugged her tightly.

"I missed you so much. I would pray every day just for you to wake up and not your heartbeat stopping. Every day was another loop of fear. I don't want you to die, I would never. I have already broken off the engagement with Mike, I promise I won't ever have anything to do with Mike again. Forgive me, please?"

"El... why are you getting so worked up? Of course, I forgive you, I would never stop loving you, I'm glad you chose me over him." Max said softly and hugged me.

"Don't you dare to do something so stupid again, it got me worried sick!" I pouted angrily and said.

"Okay, okay, I promise I won't do that again," Max replied and held on to my hands with a smile.

"Did Mike bother you again after you broke off the relationship and engagement with him?" Max asked.

"Nope, I moved us far away from Hawkins, we are in California now."

"Good to hear that..."

"I'm just glad that you're awake now, Max. I missed you."

"I missed you too."

"Hey, Max. Let's get out of here, what do you say?"

"Ooh, I say yes!" Max replied excitedly and we held onto each other's hands and escaped the hospital while a couple of nurses kept screaming for us to come back as we got into my car hurriedly while laughing.
