We all know that Sakonji makes fox masks since he likes foxes, right?
But that's actually not the real reason as you can see..
His students always wondered why, but they never got a time to ask or a confidence to ask.
There was a time when his students went to follow him secretly.
As they follow Sakonji through the forest, he stopped as they did too.
They watched confused as Sakonji kneeling down.
Kneeling down to a Gravestone..
Sakonji dusted off away some dust that are covering the name of the gravestone.
Y/n L/n
She's one of the reason, but why?
Long time ago..
Y/n and Sakonji met in young age by the age of 12 when they both are training to get into the demon slayer corps.
The both of them became friends.
And that friendship keeps evolving each interactions.
They got a little closer and closer.
One thing that Y/n showed was that she likes foxes, she said she first saw them since she was a toddler and liked them.
It was wholesome to know that.
Sakonji started to like foxes too.
When the both of them got into the final selection, Y/n wore a fox mask made by herself.
They stayed closer and protected each other as they passed the final selection. When they got back home, Sakonji asked how to make the mask which you gladly told and teach him.
Time went flying, both of you are hashiras now, both wearing masks, a tengu mask and a fox mask.
They we're called to be the perfect due or cute couple by some demon slayers.
One day, Sakonji confessed.
They were finally together with love.
But when Sakonji was enjoying the peaceful wind in the afternoon, he was planning on proposing Y/n since he didn't have any missions.
He had his tengu mask down, revealing his gentle face.
He was interrupted when Y/n's kugasai crow came to tell a message...
His heart broke into pieces after hearing the news of a passing of Y/n L/n, killed by one of the twelve kizuki.
Back to the main time..
It did took him some time to recover, it took at least 10 years but he still remember everything about her.
He continued to defeat demons, he became a former hashira due to retiring and decided to be a Cultivator and train his students water breathing to help them become a member of the demon slayer corps.
He would randomly visit Y/n's Grave whenever his students are busy.
Sakonji once wished he could have been there with her to protect her.
Sakonji could've had committed suicide/seppuku but he remembered your words. So he kept living.
He can see his students as his children, along with Y/n as the mother. Even though she's not here anymore..
