I hummed a small tune as I got ready for the day with my friends: Kite, Yuma, Tori, Rio, and Shark. We were going to the annual Heartland festival, and I couldn't deny I was a bit excited.
I dressed casual - shorts and a loose tank top, putting my favorite pair of shoes on. I smiled softly as I examined my reflection one last time. I calmly went downstairs, biding my parents a goodbye with a kiss on the cheek.
The first person I saw was Rio, racing towards me and embracing me in a hug. I patted her back softly. "Hi Rio," I greeted.
"Oh my god, girl! You should be a bit more excited! You're finally going to do it today, right?" she winked at me, giving me that mischievous smile.
"Do what?" Tori asked, as she shrugged away from Yuma.
Rio sighed before I could even speak. "She wants to confess to Reginald." She whispered, looking at me.
I shrugged and frowned, walking towards the guys.
We greeted each other, and I even saw Astral.
The first ride we went on was the teacups. I have no idea why, but Rio and Tori decided it would be a good idea to split us up in pairs. So - Rio went with Kite, Tori with Yuma, and I with Shark.
Shark and I sat there, disinterested. The teacup spun itself, but Shark and I didn't find it very thrilling. Tori and Yuma were the funniest to watch, as Yuma decided to freak out at the slightest movement, making Tori freak out too.
Kite and I locked eyes, and I shrugged. "It's almost over," I mouthed.
Shark looked at me, scoffing. "Stop talking to that loser. It's bad enough Rio decided to ride in a teacup with him," he muttered, crossing his arms.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh Reginald, stop being so protective. At least she isn't with that other dip-" The teacups stopped abruptly, cutting me off with a loud screech.
The next ride was a rollercoaster. The girls wanted to switch around, but Shark would have none of it. He stayed with me, placing the bar down as the ride began. The beginning wasn't that thrilling, but I was immune to heights. When we hit the drop, I finally smiled a bit, enjoying the wind in my hair.
Once the ride ended, my default poker face was already set.
"Geesh, (Y/N). How did that not freak you out? Even a little?" Tori asked me, holding her stomach with one hand as she dragged Yuma along with the other.
I shrugged. "I'm immune to heights. And it wasn't like we were getting thrown out of our seats," I joked, smirking.
Kite nodded. "Yeah, I'm immune to heights too. I fly everywhere, so-" Shark smacked him.
"Shut it, blondie. Not like we don't know that already." He ran a hand through his purple hair.
"Be nice you two," I rolled my eyes.
We wandered and did all the rides. At the end of the day, Kite went back to Heartland tower to check on his brother. And Tori excused herself and Yuma as they were thrown into another argument.
Rio decided to go to the bathroom, which I knew wasn't true when she left with a wink. I frowned after her, sitting on the bench next to Shark.
He cleared his throat. "Uh, (Y/N). I wanted to ask you something," he said, not looking at me.
I hummed, tilting my head.
"Do you like me?"
I rose an eyebrow. "As a friend, or more? Be specific, Reginald." I teased, smirking a bit as I crossed my arms.
He rolled his blue eyes. "Both, you dumbass." He fired back, a smirk of his own on his pale lips.
"Well, I like you as both. There, happy?" I snickered, smiling at him.
He froze. "Don't joke with me, (N/N)," he said sternly. He sat up and gripped my shoulders, "The truth, please."
His blue eyes looked at me with a seriousness I hadn't seen before.
I sighed, uncrossing my arms. "Yes, I'm being truthful, Reginald. I like you... As both..." I reached out and brushed his purple hair out of his face.
He smiled softly. "You are hard to read. You know that?" He pulled me closer, hugging me close.
"I know. But so are you," I shot back, smiling as I nuzzled his shoulder.
He chuckled, his laughter shaking his body. "Touche," he whispered in my ear before pulling back to kiss my forehead.
Little did I know, Rio was in the distance, snapping photos of us.
