AIDAN:

I casually came down from the car and walked into the school building, not even caring to wave my driver good bye.

Like he'd care.

Not too long after I stepped into the entrance of the main school building had a dark skinned boy about the same height as me walked out of the shadows with a huge smile on his face.

I recognized him.

Heck, I knew him. He was Samuel Adeola, my good friend and with the look on his face, I knew he was going to ask me the questions I always dreaded to answer.

Sure, he probably felt they were just questions. Totally harmless!

But just those questions, meaning nothing but an act of concern, could drown me in my own sweat, recalling terrible memories I badly wished would go away, and I was never ready for that.

"Guy, how far? Been long!" He smiled, stretching his hand out for a bro handshake. That's what we call it anyway.

I raised a brow at him as I stretched my hand out as well. "Just three weeks."

"And you never called. Never even picked up mine. It's really been long." He said.

"I was busy. My holiday was tight." I said, walking further into the building after our bro handshake.

"Guy, your holiday's always tight. When do you rest?" He asked, raising his hands a bit moving it to the sides for emphasis.

I shrugged. "On weekends." I said.

Do I?

Because I don't remember those feelings of sadness, heartache and guilt ever ceasing.

"Are you sure nothing happened? I was starting to think you fell Ill or something. Was that it?" He asked.

What was I doing?

This was the resumption of school. Something I had been looking forward to all holiday, and here I was, letting my bad thoughts get to me, and school hadn't even began.

Shake it off, Aidan!

I looked up and stared at him. "Yeah. Had. . . Typhoid and Malaria." I said.

His brows shot up in suprise. "You could've told me, bro!" He exclaimed.

I wore a small smile, but it slowly dropped as I sent him a questioning gaze as he placed his hand on my stomach.

He hissed, still ignoring my gaze and dropped his hands. "Your abs are still there."

"Wait... " I didn't complete my sentence, rather, I burst into laughter at my silly friend.

"I'm very fine now. Thanks for asking." I said, and burst into laughter again.

"Stop Jare." He said as we both took a corner, and soon made our way into the senior block.

After a few more laughs, I turned my head to the side and smiled at him. "Samuel, what were you thinking?" I asked.

He shrugged. "You were Ill the entire time, so you had no time or strength sef to exercise. Therefore, you couldn't maintain your abs. Me, I don't understand again oo."

I laughed and shook my head. "Go and start growing yours." I said.

He rolled his eyes at me and didn't utter a word after that. Then, he turned around and began to walk away, claiming someone had yelled his name or so but I didn't a hear a thing though.

I shrugged, walking farther into the building.

I stepped into my classroom, SS3B and roamed my eyes around it in search of an empty seat. When my gaze finally landed on one, I started walking towards it.
