I can feel my tears streaming down my cheeks. I lift my hand, placing it on my lips. The kiss Senku gave me left a tingling sensation. Senku... loves me? All these time, the girl Taiju meant was me? Oh Senku...

Y/N P.O.V

Senku and the others returns from their mission. They came empty handed.I turn my head and notice Ginro looking terrified. He won't stop shaking.

"What happened to him?" I asked, staring at Ginro with a worried gaze. "Well, he got too mesmerized by the color of the water. He almost went for a dip" Senku said. I turn to look at him in shock.

"Thank God he's okay..." I said. "Yeah. But we have to find a way to get the acid" Senku said. "And we can't make the cure-all drug for Ruri without this sulfuric acid stuff?" Chrome said.

"Nope. We need to secure a source of sulfuric acid anyway, or chemistry won't develop any further" Senku said. Kohaku looks determined by what he said.

"We'll have to push our way through to gather some. I'll risk my life as many times as it takes to safe Ruri-nee" she said. I shake my head and place my hand on her shoulder.

"No... even if you can get any closer to the source. The toxic gas will kill you in an instant" I said. She stares at me with her eyes wide. "Y/N's right. Back in our age, there was a group that went to do research around an area of sulfuric acid like this one... the man in front knelt for a moment, maybe to tie his shoelaces" Senku said. I turn to look at Kohaku with a serious gaze.

"He was dead. There was a hydrogen sulfide at his head's height when he knelt. This is an accident that actually happened" I said. Everyone visibly starts to shake in fear.

"Humans don't stand a chance with when Mother Nature wants us dead. It doesn't matter how stupidly fast you are, Kohaku" Senku said. She turns to look at the two of us. "Then what are we suppose to do, Senku? Y/N? We have to save Ruri-nee" she said. I turn to look at Senku as he smiles.

"What else? We're going to make gas masks" he said. Everyone looks confused, while I just smile. I knew that's what he's going to plan on making. There are no other way, than to purify the air we inhale using gas masks. Then just like that, they all start to work.

It's currently night time. I still can't sleep, because I'm worried about Senku. He's going to risk his life, trying to gather the most deadliest acid. One touch of it, no... just a drop of it can cause a severe burn.

I let out a sigh and get out of the hut. I stop when I hear Senku talking to Chrome. Apparently, he wants to go alone. I was about to confront him, but decide against it. I want to hear what Chrome said. If he let Senku leave on his own, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind!

"What? Where's this coming fr-" Chrome tries to protest. "Shut up and listen! These gas masks aren't guaranteed to work..." Senku said. I clench my hands at what he said. This is a true life and death situation they're facing. One small mistake could cause their life.

"Who's going to save Ruri if all the scientists go down? Sure, we have Y/N and she knows quite a few about science. But it's not going to be enough. She's going to need all the help she could get. And I want someone to take care of her for me if I can't make it back alive. Since you're not going to participate in the Grand Bout. I'm asking you to be the one to take care of her. I'm counting on you, Chrome" Senku said. Chrome looks down at what he said.

"All human die eventually. But knowledge doesn't. It's been passed down for two billion years. Listen, Chrome. I'm going to pass down all the science knowledge I know, all two million years of human civilization, to you, right now" Senku said. I shake my head at what he said. He's not being serious. He can't do this. I refuse to lose him. But I still wanna hear what Chrome have to say for this.

"Wait, wait, hang on! It's too soon! Quit talking like I'm replacing you or something! Think about Y/N! She have no one here aside from you! If you're gone, she's going to be all alone!" Chrome said. Senku let out a laugh.

"Well, aren't you kind? What are you? My girlfriend? The only one I'll ever love is Y/N. Even though she still hasn't give me an answer" Senku said. I look down, realizing that's true. Senku still doesn't know that I love him back. He left before giving me a chance to give him an answer.

"Besides, I don't have one millimeter of interest in dying, so relax. But the only way to cure Ruri's disease is to charge into the poison gas and get some sulfuric acid. If the two of us do go down together, in that instant, all science will disappear from the face of the earth" Senku said.

"So I'm staying behind in case you die" Chrome said. "Yeah, after I passed down all my knowledge of science" Senku said. I can see Chrome clenching his fists.

"I'm not taking it, if that's the case!" Chrome said. Senku turns to look at him in disbelief. "What are you, a kid? Don't get so fussy about staying home-" Senku said, but he got cut off in an instant.

"That's not the point! I have no intention of helping you with a plan that makes it okay for my friend to die! Sorry to disappoint you, Senku. But I'm not taking your knowledge. So if you croak, it's game over for science!" Chrome yelled out, he runs to Senku and punch the tree right next to his head.

"You're coming back alive, ten billion percent! You have to, Senku! It's not just for the sake of science. But also for Y/N! You said you love her. So you have to stay alive for her!" Chrome said. They keep on going back and forth in their argument. But in the end, Chrome manage to convince Senku that they'll both go... and that's how I know Chrome and the others are trustworthy people.

Time-skip

Chrome and Senku have their equipment on. They'll be going to collect the sulfuric acid. I just stand in silence as I watch them double checking their stuff.

Senku turns to look at me. He makes his way over to me. "Y/N..." he said. I stare into his eyes and looks away. I'm worried that I might start to cry if I stare into them for too long. "Look at me..." he said. But I didn't move.

I feel his fingers on my chin, tilting my head to look at him. "I'm sorry... but I have to do this. For the sake of saving humanity..." he said. I just stare at him in sadness. "I know..." I said. He gives me a soft smile.

"I'll get going then..." he said. He turns around and take a few steps, but stops. I just watch his back as he seem to be hesitating about something.

"Y/N... just in case I don't make it back. Can you give me your answer? About how you feel for me... do you... love me back?" He said, turning to look at me. My eyes widened slightly at his question.

Of course I love you too, Senku... but if this is how you planned on saying goodbye. I don't want it... I thought to myself. I bit my lips, trying to fight the urge to cry in front of him.

"Come back alive and I'll tell you..." I said. He stares at me for a few seconds and let out a sigh. "I can't change your mind on that one, right? Okay... I'll try my best..." he said, smiling softly at me. I just give him a small smile.

He walks back towards me. He leans down and place a soft kiss on my forehead. I close my eyes, as he let his lips lingers against my forehead.

"Wish me luck, okay?" He said. I nod my head. "Of course..." I said. He smiles and turns around. Chrome stares at me with a sad face, knowing how upset I am. "I'll make sure he'll be fine..." he said. I just nod my head. He turns around and follows Senku.
