Chapter 109

Previously on Chapter 108

My heart felt heavy because I have to leave Byakuya and Senku behind. But I'm sure they'd be alright. I'll see them again once we obtain the source of the petrification beam. After all, this just a temporary goodbye.

-Harem Selection-

Y/N P.O.V

There's quite a few other girls gathering around in the area. Everyone seems nervous. It's clearly written on their faces that they don't want to be chosen. It makes me curious what type of person the leader is.

I feel someone standing behind me. I turn my head to see it's Ginro. "Mind telling me why you're hiding behind me?" I said, turning to face him while raising an eyebrow. He gulps nervously at what I said. He looks like he's about to start bawling.

"I don't want to get chosen! I want to have a harem. Not being a part of it!" He wailed. I let out a sigh and roll my eyes. I scoot away from him, only for him to move to hide behind me again. I huffed at his action, deciding to just ignore him for now.

I hear footsteps and look forward. A man walking with a huge hat on his head. One man in particular has quite a huge muscle. It gives me the impression that he could be Moz, one of the people that we should be wary of.

"Hmm... we've got some cuties this year too" he said. His eyes scans each of our faces until his eyes meets mine. "Although, this one in particular stands out the most" he said.

He walks up to me and offers a hand. I just stare at his hand for a few seconds, pondering what he's planning. In the end, I just place my hand on top of his. He held my hand in his as he smiles at me.

"If the leader doesn't want to keep you... I would be the one who would. You are a true beauty, darling. Will you bless my ears with your voice by telling me your name?" He said, holding my hand with both of his.

"My name is Y/N..." I said. He smiles at what I said. He lift my hand, gently placing a soft kiss on the back of my hand. It took everything in me to not cringe in disgust at his action.

"Simply beautiful... what a beautiful name for such a beautiful girl. My name is Moz, or you can call me your future husband" he said, smiling at me. I just let out a nervous laugh at what he said. He winks at me with a flirtatious smile. I just give him an awkward smile, not knowing how to react to his comment.

"Um, t-thanks?" I said, giving him a tight smile. He's really making me feel uncomfortable. He smiles at me as he slowly releases my hand as he turns his head to look at the other girls. I just turn my gaze away from him.

The old man picks up a girl by her waist band. She let out a cry as she's bended in a way that looks painful. A man rushes over towards us, pleading for him to let the girl go because they're newly wed.

Moz starts to call us out one by one, asking us to tell him our names. Well, except for me, since he had approached me before anyone else. As the time went by for everyone to say their names, I'm starting to regret coming here to join this stupid selection. Well, it's too late to back down. I can't return to Senku without being suspicious about it. I guess I just have to deal with it.

In the end, Amaryllis, Kohaku, Ginro and I passed the test. We'll be taken along to the inner palace. Part of me feels proud that I'm chosen because that would mean I will be helping Senku gaining some information about the Petrification. But other part of me still feels uneasy. I'm starting to regret even more about my choice to join this selection. I wonder how Byakuya is doing. I hope he won't be causing trouble with his father and the others.

We walk through the forest. I turn my head and notice something in the air. I swiftly grab it as another one comes near Kohaku. I lift it to see it's some kind of earpiece. I place it on my ear.

Test... test... can you hear me, Y/N? A voice said. I blink my eyes when I realize it's Senku's voice. I can hear his voice. But I'm sure he can't hear me if I say anything. If you can hear me, stretch your arms... he said. I just do as he asked to let him know I can hear him.

I hear a soft sigh coming from him. So you can hear me. That's good. I saw what that man did, by the way... he said. My mind instantly went back to my short interaction with Moz. How he held my hand and even kissed it. I can hear the jealousy in Senku's tone as he said it. I bit my lips as I try not to laugh. I saw that... you're trying not to laugh, are you? He said, making me realize he's near, and he's watching me. I start to think about Byakuya, wondering how I can ask Senku about him.

Byakuya is fine... don't worry he said, making me blink my eyes. As always, Senku is able to read me like an open book. I smile softly to myself. Even though it hasn't been a day since I left the cave. I already miss Senku and our. I can't wait for this to be over, so I can go back to my baby and husband.

A While Later

We've finally reached the inner palace, and we're now walking across a wooden pathway. I look around the area. It reminds me of those fancy tree house back in the modern day, way before the petrification. I'm not gonna lie, this place is beautiful. But I'm not here to bask in the scenery. I have to focus on trying to look for the treasure chest, along with a clue of the petrification tool.

I turn my head and spotted Kirisame not far from where I am. She's the one who possesses it. We've got to try and find a way to take it from her. It would be easier if I just use my Chi Blocking technique and paralyze her before she could use it. But, I can't take a risk. One false move would lead to disaster. I have to try and find an opening that'll allow me to sneak in on her.

Her eyes move a little, making me look away before she could catch me staring. As I look for an answer, I'll have to give a low profile. Don't let these people aware of my abilities. Especially, my paralyzing technique. So, I have to observe things for now and decide what I should do later when I have them all figured out. I need to analyze their fighting style, in order to be able to fight effectively.

Don't engage into a fight unless victory is granted... a voice echoed in my head. It was what Hyoga would teach me when I was still a trained assassin back in the day. I shut my eyes briefly as I clench my fists. No, I'm not an assassin any more. I'm a fighter now. But either way, I still have to be careful to ensure our mission will be a success.
